Group Trackday 2015 - Any one interested
Discussion
As has been mentioned on a couple of threads it would be nice to get a big group of us to a trackday. I have [clearly stupidly] put myself forward to organise something.
Had a spare hour today so have had a look at some days.
Firstly, the idea is to go to the organiser with a group booking (I think we'll need at least 10 confirmed attendees) NOT with the line that 'a few of us might book up'. If you're interested assume the main price is what will need to be paid. Any money off or freebies will be a bonus. With regards to garages. I will assign them as three per garage so assume an additional £10 on top of the price. The price is per car but extra drivers can be added.
Secondly, please don't put your name down if you're not sure or awaiting permission from your other half. If your name is down I expect you to be paying.
Thirdly, if it comes together payment will be required by return to the organiser. If I get a discount it'll be time sensitive.
Fourthly, please note the noise limits. It is the individuals responsibility to ensure their chosen car is fit for the track and complies with the organiser's requirements.
Fifthly, this is not a TVRCC or other owners club event. ALL TVRs and drivers are welcome - assuming they follow points 1 to 4. The more the merrier.
The Days
There are two to choose from. If there's enough interest I'm happy to do both.
The first one is on Monday the 18th of May. It is an MSV day at Bedford Autodrome on the GT circuit. There is a 101dB static and 87.5dB driveby noise test to comply with. I see that garages are not listed available as an extra but I can check with MSV as I'm pretty sure there are garages there.
List price £159.00
Advantages - Monday event so travel on a Sunday is easier for most than a weekday. Lots of run off and a wide open circuit. It's fast.
Disadvantages - noise test is pretty tight. Not completely central.
The second one is on Friday the 5th of June. It is a Javelin day at Donington Park on the National circuit. There is a 105dB static and 98dB driveby noise test to comply with. Garages are available.
List price £219.00
Advantages - Lots of run off and a wide circuit. Great elevation changes. Fast. Pretty central.
Disadvantages - A Friday meeting so travel on a Thursday.
Accomodation near to each is plentiful. Happy to hear suggestions but generally I stay at a local Premier Inn on the off chance of meeting Lenny Henry.
Quote the reply below adding you name to which event your prefer or both.
Have a good one.

I would love to do Bedford again but I am worried about the noise limit. Do you remember what the noise limit was when we almost didn't get on last time Anthony? I don't seem to remember is being as low as 101dB?
It's always 101, Matthew. I was 107 that day, which came down to 103 with my cans on, I just got lucky in that PetrolTed was behind me at the noise test and they had the devil's own job to get his Porsche GT3 down to 103 as well.......at which point they decided the weather conditions must be jiggering the noise meter (I think the knew who he is). I had no trouble with the drive by limit all day, nor did he. However, I was 106.7 at Snetterton last Friday without cans.....which is why is I limiting myself to Donington, a track I have always fancied trying. I am open for a group session at Oulton Park too later in the season (but not in the wet!).

The TVRCC normally organise a TD at Cadwell? It's usually a really good price (offsets the membership fee...) & noise friendly.
It's about £155, so not that cheap, and 105 dB. It runs in sessions, three different skill levels. But the track time is only half the fun, as we get to meet each other and chat and take passenger rides and heckle from the cafe balcony.

Will check diary later but keen on both.
Is that because he was faster than you around Brands in the wet in December ?
Mind you, a hearse would have been quicker than both of us in those conditions and with us on track tyres.....
I would have come along to Donnington but it's my wifes birthday that weekend, then I am off to Le Man, then Zolder two weeks later so got to be at home for wifes birthday
I like Donnington, nice flowing circuit and the Craner Curves are great if you get them right
If your looking for a nice local place to stay try the Falcon Inn, Long Whatton, just 10 mins down the road, that's where I stay when I do a trackday at Donnington, great food, nice rooms and Jad the manager is really nice

not sure if I will still have a TVR or what TVR come then so wont put my name down just yet, but if someone gives me a bell to remind me before donnington I'll op down with my go pro and camera to provide the snaps that dont cost as much as the track day itself to buy!
I might take you out as balance weight for my car - it always goes better with an arse on the passenger seat, despite being corner weighted. Might even let you drive it
Yes, I will give you a nudge....
Will you be at Curborough tomorrow?
