A good article in the recommissioning of the original TuscanR/T400R/T440R homologation road car.

This is a really important car in TVR's history but why is it being referred to as a Typhon?

It was badged originally in early 2001 as a TuscanR but when they realised they'd need two road models to be FIA compliant they badges this car as a T400R and the brown one as a T440R which is how they remained until the later creation of the Typhon when PN02 briefly sported the T440R badge. But it has never been bashed as a Typhon.

Sprint has a duty to get the history of such hugely important cars correct. And this car is properly important.

I have read through the latest Sprint twice now, and I still cannot find any mention of the 440/Tuscan R!

Maybe it's the next edition due. Lovely article on the DeWalt T400R that TVR101 are recommissioning.

Page 28 (March edition), in Specialist Spotlight on TVR101 which shows the T400/440R on the ramp as a Dewalt Typhon??

It would be good to have it confirmed?

I'm afraid I didn't see that piece before it went to press otherwise I'd have corrected it. TVR101 kept referring to it in posts on Facebook as a T440R and I kept correcting them but I assume they told the writer of the article it was Typhon/T440R if you don't know the detail then it's an easy mistake to make.

All that said I wouldn't say it was THAT important a car, it never raced, it wasn't the original prototype (that was crushed) and it was then used as a bit of a mule before being painted to look like a race car.

Hi David, sorry didn't see your post. It did carry the T440 badge right at the end before being 'De Walted' but spent the majority of its life as the T400.

I think it is important in that it was the car that did all the press outings, bar the Brundle video, and all the shows etc plus the Evo trip to Le Mans. Or at least important to get the nerdy details correct.

The truth is that only colour and trim levels really separated any of the cars in the end.
