TVR Manufacturing Ltd???
Discussion
Well I just phoned David Gerald to enquire about a new handbrake cable for my S2 whilst it's having the body off.... and turns out they've sold their parts system and presumably parts stock to TVR Manufacturing Ltd who apparently are/were the original owners of TVR before the changes of ownership that lead to the brands demise. There should be some kind of launch in the next weeks possibly. Will be interesting to see what it brings?

TVR Manufacturing Limited is part of Les Edgar's TVR organisation, currently planning the production of new TVR cars.
They have taken over the supply of ‘TVR Genuine Parts’ via http://tvr-parts.com and it looks like they're doing the same for parts for older TVRs too.

"TVR Parts is fully licensed by TVR as the exclusive supplier of 'TVR Genuine Parts' worldwide. None of the old licences or parts distribution agreements remain in force any longer so if you’re after a 'TVR Genuine Part' then the sole source is TVR Parts."
Looks like they have pulled the plug on the other dealers

You should have popped up for their Open Day today! Stock hasn't gone yet but maybe it is counted and value agreed?Talking to one their guys today they want to expand the workshop space so I guess a load of dusty, slow moving stock doesn't fit in with their plans
Could make sense to have all stock in one place and maybe it will make it viable for TVR parts, with a bigger turn over and therefore better buying power, to have some parts re-manufactured?
Just hope they don't do front indicators or my pension fund will collapse!
Perhaps a "healthy" spares business will help finance a new car (not that i'll be able to afford one).
Guess there is good and bad about having "all your eggs in one basket"
Yes, it gives them a monopoly to charge what they like, if they choose, but there are really very few "every day" parts for an S that cannot be sourced from a decent Motor factors or Ebay!
Would they have licence, patent, inclination or whatever to have non TVR parts reproduced, front indicators, differential mounting, steering column shroud are a few rare/obsolete parts that spring to mind?
But, lets take the illusive "fat girl on a bicycle with pigtails" targa panel to door glass seal as an example, DG told me a while ago they would not be getting any manufactured because minimum order was 100 metres, would take them "donkey's years to sell whereas TVR parts with an International market may find that sort of quantity/ stock holding quite acceptable. They may well, of course, already be dealing with a suitable manufacturer for other mouldings

Have some new in my boot 2 metres
That's not where it's meant to go Is it one of those "I'll fit it one day" jobs or, should it be "spare" I'd like to make you an offer for it!

Of course it should be in the boot, securely attached to the targa panels!
On the fence with this, it's not usually good for the punters when you have a monopoly on goods.
One thing, remember the guy who got the stainless fuel tank covers made, they had on TVR V6 / V8, trade name, won't be able to do that from now on.
It's down to supply and demand, don't think the S will be high on the list, that's if it makes the list at all.

Agreed - it's down to how they play the game. Too many times in the past I've seen the marketing approach of "protect the brand" become the mantra. Followed by jumping on folks putting logos on things. Looking after the folks that have kept the "brand" alive often seems a long way down the priority list. Let's hope the Les Edgar folks will be reasonable and I hope Mike's right that they use volume to re-manufacture parts that might not have been viable before.
An intriguing development...

I wonder what David Gerald did with the moulds it had? I can see people at the new TVR Parts outfit wanting to get their hands grubby making up GF parts.
What is probably behind this is the fact that motor manufacturers make more money (and get better cash flow) from parts than from making cars.

There were other people making parts TET and Fiberon, Whot do they do now

They (TVR) cannot stop them, they made their own moulds and the parts are out of any protection as far as I'm aware (designs were never registered) so all they can do is prevent them from using any TVR branding.Alan
The deal that was being offered to the indies to use the 'TVR Genuine Parts' branding/endorsment stated that ALL parts and consumables had to be bought from TVR Car Parts but that was roundly rejected for obvious reasons so that route to cornering the market isn't open to them either.
