If the weather is fair it'll be a really good day.

Let me know if anyone wants to borrow a pair of clamp on cans?

Ditto - I have a spare set and will bring them to the track. I will also bring a compressor (for tyres), a low jack, wheel gun etc and spare helmets.

I am seeing if Daz will come and join us.

Ok Colin.

The cans are more effective than the inserts.

It will be good to see how everyone goes on their new rubber, especially you, Matt, and Colin (I believe has some R888s now).
As for Peter and Ian having a drag race down the back straight.....whistle
I wonder who's going to be the loser ?

I am still working on Daz....he is worried about noise levels, but has promised to pop (and bang) round to mine this weekend for a bit of testing.

I cant see either one of us being the loser somehow, lol. Cant see me be that close to him through the twisty bits tbh, there seems to be a bit more to this going fast lark than burying your foot in the floor! Hoping to hitch a few rides to see how its done.

Just about to mail you Anthony re tyre options

Cheers

Last check for the Bedford habitues, I've got my sound levels down to about 106dB, static, at 4k revs.

Do I stand a chance or will it still be pretty risky?

1. No
2. What is your rev limit?
3. What diameter tail pipes does a Tamora have?

I have a standard back box sitting about that gets me through sound tests. Welcome for a lend if we can get it to the track. Not sure if it will fit in Phazed's car with all the other stuff.

Anyone else drivig up from south of the river?

8k revs is my limit. Might be able to get away with saying it's 6k, as I did (well they offered the information) at Cadwell.

I'll check the diameter of the pipes when I get home from NI, this weekend.

106dB is with the standard back box. The JP box delivers 118dB, 112dB with the ACT cans on. Unfortunately, my cans don't fit the standard box.

This is all according to my Maplins meter, which might be horrendously inaccurate either way. I need to get it measured by a more official meter. If I can get to Goodwood Breakfast Club this Sunday I'll see if there are an officials wandering around that might have a calibrated one - assuming that there is a level of standardisation.

Are you decatted by chance? 106 seems very loud for the sdtandard system. Mine was 102dB at Snetterton at 5250rpm with cats and the standard box.

Alternatively, you could do what I did at Oulton last year to get the ACT back box through the 105dB test Fixed two layers of acident repair mesh over the tail pipes. Used some jubilee clips to secure it. Place a small amount of exhaust wadding between the layers, literally a single leaf layer.
