Reading about "causes of microblisters" made me realise how little I know about problems with fibreglass bodies........

So, over to the PH experts to educate me (and I am sure a few others on here) with and from their usual array of knowledge, expertise and innuendo as to what issues to look for on a glassfibre body when buying a TVR.

Thanks in advance

TC, IMHO, in general, the grp is rarely an issue on TVRs.

In my experience I haven't seen any issues with poor lay-up or bad finish on the cars that I've owned. I've read that some of the pre-90's cars may have had poor repairs and re-sprays in the past. In the main, the paint finish is very good - you will get a rash of stone chips at the front on a used car.

I wouldn't concern myself with the tub - concentrate on the chassis and running gear.

You will get micro blister on metal cars paint as well, quite often caused by car covers.

Fibreglass doesn't conduct heat away to other areas like metal does, so heat shielding under the bonnet is important if you want to avoid too much heat causing blisters.

Fibreglass easier to repair to original strength and to customise and doesn't rust.
