Ive been ringing around for insurance cover today and had a real good price with footman James with an agreed value I also get to keep the car in the event of it being written off with no buy back fee.
One of the terms is the car has to have a thatcham immobilisers fitted.
I don't think there that expensive but ant they standard on the chims? Push in thingy next to the ignition.
I had the same on a car years ago and im sure it was a thatcham approved then.

I'm not sure about the Chim, but be careful about what you tell your insurer.

My Tamora has (from memory) a Cat 1 Thatcham alarm system, but in order to be Thatcham approved the system needs to be fitted by a Thatcham approved installer. TVR were not Thatcham approved installers, so the Tam alarm is not a Cat 1 Thatcham approved system. I advised my insurers that it is a Cat 1 Thatcham alarm system, but installed by TVR at the factory.

I don't have access to my paperwork at the moment, but the above is broadly the case for the Tam.

Hopefully someone will correct if I have the above not quite right.

TVR used to issue a letter with each new car which stated what was fitted, I just pass that onto the insurance company.
No idea how far back that goes but it certainly covers back to Cerbs AFAIK.

There was a "To whom it may concern" letter copy floating around from the old Factory which confirmed the alarm installed on various cars.

Sure you can find a copy on here or TVRCC forum with a bit of hunting.

I have a copy of it somewhere, but do not want to go looking for it.
