Have a look for DogCam mounts - they are pretty good.

Any car suction mount is good. Obviously the go pro specific one is best. They really do stay on done over cough100cough and barely any vibration or movement. Even on a surface that has a slight curve to it

If the OP is in Europe, he may be in a country where driving with a chest infection isn't an issue. wink

However a consideration for the OP, if you want to use your camera for UK track days, most, if not all UK tracks do not allow suction mounts only mechanical.

I found the GoPro mount to be st, my GoPro was ruined within three days of using the mount as it fell off after some spirited driving and it was mounted correctly. I also had considerable wind noise and vibration.

I bought one of these for £5.98:

And stuck it to the back bumper and took this video:

I've had no issues with it at speed whether stuck to the inside of the window or outside on the bodywork.

I've got the official GoPro suction cup and it's brilliant! Used it recently for a circa 2 hour rally driving and didn't even nearly come off, very, very sturdy. Used it on normally loads.

Don't buy a cheap stty Chinese one!

This thumbup

Bought the official product and never had an issue on several TiTT runs, tracks days, days out and laps of Le Mans hehe

Make sure you clean the bodywork before applying the suction pad and that the area is dry and all will be good.

Just put a flat mount on the screen & another on the diffuser. Surf board tether next to each so you don't loose it!

Definitely have it on a short tether - I've had a GoPro mount fail, thankfully it couldn't go anywhere, so no damage to car or camera.

Just got back from a 3500 mile round trip of europe with the offical go pro suction mount and no issues at all. Had it mounted on the roof, the roll bar, the side of the car and the windscreen....

I use the original GoPro mount and it feels as it is glued to the glass when mounted properly. Didn't use it on paint though. You need to check, that the lever had been opened and closed properly when mounting.

I also used the 3m mounts on the windscreen, which is much less prone to wobbly videos due to bumps in the road. Vid looks much cleaner, but also less exciting. ;-)

I believe there has been an earlier version of the GoPro suction cup mount, which was crap.

I wouldn't use any cheap mount for my GoPro when mounted outside of the car. If you loose the camera it could be the last tome you see it in one piece depending if a following car runs over it or not.
Top Tip: use a short rope/cord to secure it.

Also a good tip. I use a Audio-Technica ATR3350 omnidirectional condenser lavalier mic taped right next to the exhaust. less wind noise, more exhaust boom. :-)

so roll me further bitch

I use a go pro suction mount. Tried and tested up to 130 mph on the windscreen on a autobahn
