Use the two part POR15 which sets hard, brilliant stuff.
I'm going to consider all suggestions when the time comes, thanks.

I've just spent 3 hours removing the n/s rear brake caliper and wishbone, top wishbone is still stuck on, looks like I will have to cut the bolt either side of the shocker, strange thing is on the mot fail sheet there is no mention of the rear brakes yet the pads were none existent, at this rate I should have the chassis stripped for Xmas.

Had to check my rust killers when I got home to get it right. The POR 15 metal prep is easy to apply for tose hard to reach spots as it's sprayable, but the Bilt Hammer deox-gel/deox-C stuff is brilliant.

Don't forget to check the camshaft for wear whilst you've got the valley gasket out.

Best of luck

Diff removed, rear wishbones removed, looks like the bushes will be a problem, they look like steel on steel, they look badly corroded, also the rear diff plate bush looks fused, I'm going to try and get a junior hacksaw blade in and cut the bushes up, still i am a bit closer,

I finally stripped the chassis today, i discovered some rot on the main chassis where the front wishbone pickups meet the outriggers, I think I will get it shot blasted before I do anything else, after which I will seek professional advice I think it's a step too far for my experience to repair.

Good idea. It's only after blasting that you get a ture indication of the condition.

Good luck.thumbup

Hi Ged, I've decided to bite the bullet and take my chassis to rt racing at Sheffield, I have booked it in for Saturday morning, I sent him some pictures and he quoted me £2150 + vat less the cost of the outriggers, I decided if I am to keep the value of the car I will have to do it properly, this has dramatically increased my budjet but I feel it will be worth doing, as the car cost me nothing to begin with I cannot really lose, Jim.

Good decision mate.
The only thing that stopped me taking mine to Richard Thorpe was the logistics getting it there and back 150+ miles each way when I hade someone less than 20 miles away from home who could do it, otherwise he would have got the job.
I've known Richard for nearly 20 years now and I can't fault his work or customer service.

You may well end up doing more than you think now, but any jobs Richard recommends will not be in vain.

Best of luck.

Ged thumbuphi Ged, I've decided to throw about £6000 at it so it should come up OK , I was kidding myself that I could do it on the cheap, hopefully I can add some value to it,Jim.

How are you getting it to RT Racing?
I assume you are sending the wishbones and other brackets with the main chassis?
