Hi Ged, in borrowing a trailer and taking it myself, not bothering with the old wishbones going for new ones, in taking the uprights, anti roll bars ect, its about 2 hours twenty from here so only a couple of hours. Jim.
Hi Ged just taken the chassis to rt in Sheffield, he took a sharp intake of breath when he saw it, he is going to shotblast it next week then ring me with the verdict, so this week can be spent tidying up the engine bay and wheel arches.

That sounds like Richard!

Worst case scenario is that he suggests a new chassis - I think they are £3250+VAT.

I'm not saying it will need that, just making you aware.

Keep me updated.

Hey will do Ged, I'll just play it by ear, I do know where there is a used but in good condition chassis which has had the outriggers done for£1250 Inc vat so if it gets to that point I would plum for the cheapest option.

Hi Ged, but I would prefer to keep the original chassis if I can, as I said I borrowed a trailer from a friend to take the chassis, arrived back in Preston @ 12.05 and white van man ran into the back of the trailer @ 12.07, smashed all the lights and number plate off the back.

Update, I received a phone call late Friday night from Richard Thorpe, he said he needs to talk to me in detail regarding my chassis, as it was Friday evening he would rather leave it while Monday, I am thinking its going to be bad news I'm afraid, he said he would also send me some pictures so I will post em on here Monday night, i have fabricated a four wheeled bogey so I can lower the body and get it out of the garage to clean it up and paint the engine bay, I will also post pics showing this, in have managed to save the shocks, the brake carriers, unfortunately the calipers have had it, I am beginning to create a very nice scrap pile.

The calipers could probably be refurbished by BiggRed. They are reputed to do an excellent job.

No connection with them, just read about them on Pistonheads. Worth a google.

Thanks for the suggestion but I've purchased new, gave old ones in as exchange,I got the front ones for £50 each, the rears were a bit pricey at£90 each.

Hi Ged, I spoke to Richard on Friday and he said the chassis wasn't as bad as first suspected, he said I was looking around £14-1600 for the metal work less the money I paid for the outriggers, he said the chassis would be on the bench this week and he would change the bottom 60/ 40 rails, also the top tubes where the manifold passed, and the down tubes where the engine mounts where, so all in all I should end up with a decent chassis. Jim.

It isn't quite as good as it looks when you get up close, in going to try a machine polish first then decide if it needs respraying.
