How's the rebuild going mate?
Hi Ged, do you know the torque sequence and settings for both the inlet manifold and the cylinder head, I was putting the rocker cover back yesterday when I heard something drop in the engine, the only thing I could see was the small collet from the bolt hole in the rubber gasket, I can't see it anywhere so I have to assume it's dropped down into the bore through the open exhaust valve.barnsweeper said:
Thanks mate, I'm hoping to install the engine onto the chassis on the sat 12th, I've got some help that weekend then its the body on Monday 14th if all goes well.
BIG milestone coming up!Make sure you take plenty of pics of the rolling chassis before you put the body on, take a while to admire the work of art that a refurbished chassis certainly is and then give yourself a great big pat on the back!

Hi Ged, yeh I will do, I'll be glad to get it finished, its beginning to take its toll on the finances as well as the body, I think to finish I need a new aircon rad, dryer receiver and valve, 6meters of carpet, and a new rear screen. It's a new car then.Make sure you take plenty of pics of the rolling chassis before you put the body on, take a while to admire the work of art that a refurbished chassis certainly is and then give yourself a great big pat on the back!

Nice, I'll bet that felt good when you got to that point.
This horrible weather is holding me up today, I was supposed to take the chassis back round to the garage today but I don't fancy taking it out in the rain, I spoke to mark blitz last week re my engine problem, he reckons it an over fueling on the right bank, which can be sorted by setting the trim values, as luck would have it there's a place a mile from me called protection racing, I spoke to the guy and he said he would sort the car as soon as I get it running, result for me.barnsweeper said:

Excellent start to the New Year mate!
Thanks mate, I've been lucky really with the weather being so mild, the rain has been a pain, as you can see by the PIC of the chassis, I had to build a tent between the garage and the car, I'm going to remove the injectors today and get them cleaned, I should have done it before the body went back but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I need to source a few bits before I can get it running, the aircon system needs overhauling for one, and the radiator needs recording, so I imagine it will be a few weeks before I can turn the key.barnsweeper said:
Hi Ged, I had occasion to remove the distributor at the beginning of this project, I went to put it back in yesterday and noticed the absence of the tab that drives the oil pump, do you know if its crank driven? Or has something dropped off mine.
As yours is a serpentine engine, the pump is contained in the the timing chain cover and is crank driven.Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
