I decided to give the radiator and the aircon condensor the once over today before fitting tomorrow, well I picked them up out of the garage and they turned to dust, I went online and got a new condensor and a recored rad for the princely sum of £315 Inc postage.
Is that for both bits?J400GED said:
Well? Did you make the MOT?
Well, its been an eventful week, Monday I went for a new 100 amp fuse holder to a local auto leccy, I currently drive a Vauxhall insignia adapted for left foot throttle and brake, that's all well and good as long as I keep my right foot out of the equation, as I was pulling into the carpark slight downhill I might add, right foot decided to join in, so left foot reverted to clutch pedal which is non existent as its auto, so it was left foot flat too the floor, resulting in me flying through shop window, they were very nice about it though, got all the car together finally today, oiled, watered and ruled, only to find battery was knackered, put jump leads on and it wouldn't start, checked for spark all OK, checked for fuel nothing, shoved it back in garage and went home sick. I'll have another look on Monday.barnsweeper said:

Have you definitely wired the fuel pump correctly?I had this on mine. it's easy to get them wrong.
On mine, one of the pump terminals has two wires going to it, one of which went to a rectangular component which itself was mounted to the chassis - this, on mine, is the positive.
The terminal with a single wire, on mine, was the negative. When I first wired mine in I incorrectly assumed that the wire to the chassis was an earth.
The terminals on the pump itself don't necessarily follow a convention - for example, the -ve isn't always larger than +ve and vice versa - and they aren't necessarily marked +ve and -ve - it depends on which make of pump you have to hand.
When you key on the pump will sound like it's priming as normal but it is actually running backwards!

Hi Ged yes on mine the terminals are different sizes so its difficult to get it wrong, I'm going to get a new battery today, cut off and replace the terminals on the pump, also check the relays and the inertia switch, I'll let you know the outcome, Jim.I had this on mine. it's easy to get them wrong.

That's my whole point, the terminals aren't standard in Large = -ve and small = +ve or vice versa, the only way to confirm is if the pump has + or - marked on the pump.Regarding the diode block then it is secured to the chassis at the lower pump bracket.
The inertia switch is a bloody good idea to check before ripping the pump - especially if you can't hear the pump priming on key on.

OK cheers Ged, I'll let you know later if I find anything.Regarding the diode block then it is secured to the chassis at the lower pump bracket.

I've just been round to the lockup, connected new battery no pump priming, tried turning it over and it spun for two seconds and wouldn't spin over again buggered about with the battery and immobiliser for half an hour with no joy, jacked front end up and the ignition wire had dropped off phew, when I turn the ignition on I can hear the relays telling the pump to prime but no joy, it was too risky to jack the back end p in the dark so I'll have another look tomorrow, I looked allover for the inertia switch but couldn't find it. I'll try a live direct from the battery tomorrow, weather permitting.barnsweeper said:

The inertia switch is behind the glove box panel and looks like this:I can't be more specific regarding location because it's a TVR!

Hi Ged, I found the inertia switch and it wasn't tripped, checked fuses all OK, so I jacked the car up and put a live and neutral direct to the pump from the battery and there was not a whisper, not sure if its something I have done when putting it back, ie not put the isolating rubber washers back properly or something, I'll have to have a look on the net, anyway where's the best place to pick up a pump?, Jim.I can't be more specific regarding location because it's a TVR!
