It'd be interesting to know how many deposits they've taken.
It's not going to take them long to fill at least the first years production, if not more, assuming all those placing deposits go ahead.
When Les called me yesterday 2 hours after the deposit line opened to tell me the proportion of TVRCC member to non members placing deposits he said that he thought the LE would sell out.

He's not stating exact numbers.
Out of interet, have you placed a deposit?

Unfortunately not as I haven't got the spare cash but if I had the money available I would have.

The combination of Murray and Cosworth is enough for me to have faith, those are proper partners who don't play games.

Most manufactures when they release a range of cars will have...
- Launch editions
- Special editions
- Normal edition

What TVR are releasing first is a launch edition which is usually slightly different
from the later production cars.

If it was software it would be a Beta version, I wonder if they will carry the same caveats?

The Launch Edition will be specified with the options they think appropriate but discounted from the cost if you added them yourself from the options list.
I believe there is also a 'configurable' option which, I assume will be the base offering with the opportunity to add options to your choice but those will not be discounted.

For those willing to divulge, could you please pop your deposit details down in the thread below?

It would be interesting to build up a list of depositors so we can (at least slightly) assess how much demand there is and 'compare notes' nearer the time.

Thanks!

My heart is still tugging at my head on this, any legal eagles read the T&C's and have any qualms, I have some contract experience but they read OK to me.

A bit pissed at the TVRCC getting less exposure to risk by having half the deposit, I'm a lapsed member, and despite being in the top couple of percentile (I'm not a powerfully built company director though) the difference between £2k5 and £5k would help me sleep better at night. I could produce my TVR LeMans shirts/ cap and 15 years of TVR servicing bills if that helps secure the lower deposit!

Anyone know how many deposits have been taken for Les to say the first years build slots are nearly gone, given they were looking at a capacity of over 1000 cars a year?

Decisions, I would have to reactivity a credit card as I haven't used one in nearly 10 years if I did though....

I asked TVR if the new car would be USA compliant. The car will be manufactured to EU Small Series Type Approval. They left it to me to get the car in to the USA--I'm not feeling too confident about this approach.

What is the difference between a standard production vehicle and EU Small Series Type Approval? Emissions? Crash testing? Air bags?

Pulling for TVR all the same!

I'm really struggling to make the decision. If I knew for sure it would be as attractive a car as say a Cerbera or Sagaris, my money would be down. I've always wanted a TVR, but the engine issues and other quirks have always scared me off. The stuff promised under the skin for this car pretty much wipes that fear though, I'd just love to know what it looks like. Recently sold my Vantage and don't see anything else on the horizon for me next other than this, just need to step off that ledge! Definitely no issue with the projected prices come the time. Has anyone managed to get clarification on how the deposits will be held? If it's by a secure method there's no real risk and I can get my name in.........

Benefits of being a member and supporting the marque via the club is how TVR see it if you read the press release announcing this.

They're not disclosing numbers of deposits taken but although they're aiming at higher production figures the press release also stated that the first year would be in the 'low hundreds' as they ramped up production.

All of those.

ie. Small Series Type Approval does not require expensive crash testing, etc.

They say that deposits will be held securely and they do seem to understand that some people may change their minds when actual car is revealed and agree to return deposits at that stage! We just have to give some level of trust!

If you are slightly worried, then pay by credit card as i did. Have a read through this , it would seem that your/our money is safe if the worst happened.

So I could pay by credit card, then pay the balance on my card off right away, but because I placed the deposit via the CC I still have the cover?
