It's nice to see folk carried away by the marketing.
Including the author of this statement: "It will be a Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston martin beater on all levels, a giant slayer..."

One hell of a marketing department or it must be some car.....
The author of that statement was Les Edgar. I merely wrote what he said to me, I wasn't getting carried away... indeed in context I actually said to him (and wrote) 'Wow that's quite a claim' his reply was 'I know, but I know what we're building and I'm confident in that claim'

This is a guy with a high profile in the Games industry and his track record there is impressive and he's not known for 'over egging' but for delivering. I doubt he intends to spoil the look of his CV and make himself look stupid over this.

Could imagine you having a sense of humour by-pass but not a sense of reality op TOVIE? smile

Must admit I've not written off the thought of a deposit, but it's very much dependent on the result of my investment in Unreps beans...

Why are you so against the new car, with your track history of so many lovely TVRS it's a bit of a shock to be honest,
As for by-passes anymore silly comments like that and you will be the one needing one hehe

I'm not against anything Gordon, seen nothing to like or otherwise smile

We started to build our own new TVR last year and it's what we want. Three TVRs is enough for now, but if things don't work out with our build, or the new TVR is a car we need..

If it was desirable and we deceided a new car was for us, we would not want one of the first 100 cars (30 years of that carry on is enough for one man!)

I wish TVR well for the future and hope Les becomes one of the legendary custodians of the marque rather than one of the flops.

Yes, I am well aware of who wrote it! This was a tongue-in-cheek throwaway remark as I think Mr Edgar got just a bit carried away. I will never be in a position to afford the new car. I just hope all those who can and want one are not hugely disappointed come 2017. Otherwise there's going to be a lot of "I told you so". rolleyes

I'm a big fan of TVR's - I bought 4 of them including 3 new ones. I even bought the newest one I could when I moved to the USA as I couldn't bring my Sagaris.

What's happening here is nothing to do with TVR though, apart from the name. I could change my name to Jerry Garcia but I wouldn't be him, he's dead, just like TVR.

Crikey, bit harsh. I hope they do well.

If the money is put into an escrow account for security and if it is fully refundable - might stand a better chance of deposits.

Why do TVRCC members get a lower rate than non members? Some folk do own TVR's and are non members, seems a bit daft as I would have thought the objective should be to get as many potential buyers as possible?

If it was an established main stream manufacturer there would be no hesitation, due to circumstances of not having a car to see, no pictures and no guarantee that your money won't do a runner.....not sure I trust anyone that much - after all £5k is a lot of money in most peoples books.

I really want TVR to succeed but I would have thought that it would be a better marketing ploy to have something tangible to offer before requesting deposits - at least an official artists impression??

If £5k is a lot of money then finding the remaining £75k is going to make people st their pants wink

And why shouldn't the club get something for their members? It's not exactly a saving of any kind just a gesture from the company that reflects that the club had worked on its own since 2006 to look after the brand.

Got to say I am in agreement with this.

Wonder if I can get away with changing the wifes name to Margot Robbie?

Looks like there's some truly discerning punters on here who know a good thing when they see it.

That being the case I have recently acquired some special beans. I can't say too much at this stage but they have certain properties that will deliver a certain result that will make everyone involved very rich. I'm not prepared to discuss the exact properties of the beans or when I will be actually delivering the first batch to the lucky investors but I think I've told you enough to make it clear that I am well versed in the matter of magic beans and can be trusted with your money. At this stage I'm going to be very particular about who I let have access to the beans. I'm going to restrict supply strictly to those believers who send me a cheque (or cash - used non sequential bills only please) by way of an initial deposit for 5000 pounds.

Mail your cheques (made out to cash) or cash to;

Unreps Magic Beans Ltd
PO Box 666
Geneva
Switzerland

I'll be in touch once enough lucky customers have signed up.

Unrep's magic beans ltd make no representation, verbally or otherwise to the quality or otherwise of any beans that may or may not exist and do not undertake to deliver said beans at any time now or in the future. All deposits are final, no refunds. In the event of any dispute contracts are executed in Somalia and any dispute arising thereof will be heard and settled in the court of Judge Unrepuncle in Mogadishu.
Damn! I have got my money saved up for a deposit for the new TVR and now there is the option of these magic beans.

5K is a lot of money to potentially lose - that was my point.

Seems a bit daft IMO to start discriminating so early on, especially when risking hard earned dosh.

Could be the difference between a deposit and no deposit scratchchin

Doesn't help me with the decision of risking my money getmecoat

Somewhat depends on whether it is non refundable and non transferable though. Seeing as this appears not to be known I can't see much reason to comment as of yet other than to at that if its refundable then it's a total irrelevance and if it isn't then you'd need to be pretty diehard to wang the cash down until you at least know what it looks like.

It would be unusual for it not to be refundable or transferable or ring fences from the balance sheet but I suppose there will be clarity tomorrow?

Apart from the minor technicality that it is a brand rather than a human. biggrin

Astons are still Astons. Rollers, Rollers. Porches, Porches. Bentleys, Bentleys etc.

A change of ownership, corporate structure or factory doesn't signify the end to a brand. It never did for TVR in the past either.

What exactly have the TVRCC done to look after the brand?

Don't know what to predict about the oncomming TVR. I'm not much for guesswork, and my money only leaves my left hand when someone puts a car key in my right hand.

What I can tell you is that if the new car makes an appearance the second hand price of saggys will fall off a cliff.

Theyve continued to promote it.

As for the TVRCC getting smaller deposits, hell why not?
