Hello

I had some spare time recently and wrote an Android Rovergauge.

I used the open source libcomm14cux library as a reference.

I'm more or less complete and have a few minor bits to finish off.

Kind regards
Aide

How does the hardware interface between the Android device and the ECU?

I used the beautifully made Rover V8 14CUX interface cable off the PH classifieds and a USB OTG cable
So, if you already have Rovergauge running on your laptop and wanted to use the android version you would just need the OTG cable.

Flaky laptops don't help, especially when you're on the road or not at home.

Having all the diagnostic info and being able to use your phone to quickly and simply check over everything before you start the car (of if you're stuck in traffic) is really handy.

The app has a few other features as well like:
-o- A GPS speedometer with acceleration and lateral-G meters
-o- Full custom dial layouts that can be saved and shared
-o- The ability to remember the max and min dial values (i.e. on the water temp dial)
-o- Full HUD mode
-o- Data logging
and a few more here and there..

I'm going to call it: RS-RV8

Kind regards

Will you be doing this as freeware, like Dan and Colin have done?

I have given it a lot of thought, especially in the last two weeks, and haven't decided yet.

ok.. Fuel Maps done, just need to finish off the 16x8 FuelMapGrid widget to nicely display and colour the Fuel Map.

I also added a Screen to display all the GPS stats as well:

Best wishes

When I say a lot, maybe 400 including smartwatches (nice way to present faults during driving).

Wow! I'd love to do a smart watch extension - maybe a fault code or coolant temp alarm? smile

Why would you do it for free when the Ajp version isn't ?
