What is it about TVR's
Discussion
I once had a long chat at a petrol station, with a young chap who seriously liked TVRs. I mean, he *really* liked them, to a slightly unsettling degree.
Then his female companion returned from paying for their fuel, and he said: "This is my carer. We're going to the zoo today!"
So, buy a TVR, and you'll be the envy of people who aren't allowed out on their own!

Parked in the Co-op car park in Aberfeldy in Scotland on holiday recently, and this young couple approached immediately. The guy had a bigger grin on his face than I do when driving the Tamora, and he couldn't take his eyes off the car. Chatted for a few minutes, and it was obvious he was genuine, so I let him sit in the driver's seat so his missus could take photos. He said that I really made his day, and you could see he meant it!
A week later parked at Eilean Donan Castle car park, and a guy in his sixties approached and we chatted about TVRs and other cars for ages. Turned out he is a well-known Scottish artist, and he has paintings in the Queen's collection!
I have many other stories just from this recent 2 week holiday in Scotland where conversations about the Tamora begin as soon as we've parked up. Better than babies or dogs for that!

I was filling mine up at Shell Millbrook a few weeks ago.
Chap pulls up in a Merc' C class the other side of the pump island. Could hardly get away as he bent my ear relating the launch of the Griffith at the motorshow and the various lovelies they had on the stand helping people to look around the cars.
Hope the new one attracts as much interest.

I think the pause in TVR building cars has just generated more interest.
Last weekend I took the Cerb (my sensible car) to Homebase to get some paint (not for the car). When I came back a guy that had pulled up close to me came across and started talking TVR. Seems he loves them and Cerbs in particular. A 'few' minutes later as he walked away and I was getting in a lady comes across and says she was admiring the car when she went to the shops and just loves TVR's.
You just don't get this with ANY other brand. Les is on to a winner IMHO.

Went to The Mille Miglia for the first time in The Griff, Brother in Law in his Tuscan.
Parked in a French town square and upon returning to collect something from the car was greeted by a French 'road sweeper'. He talked at length about the Griff, then asked about the Tuscan ..... He knew it wasn't a real Tuscan as he had seen them on Euro Sport... (Tuscan Challenge).
Brother in Law and myself obliged with letting road sweeper take pics and sit in TVR's.
Oh .... no mention about 2 x 911's near by

TVR every time for me. TVR has soul, something that very few modern manufacturers can boast. They are very different animals, The Porker MAY have reliability on it`s side, but I would rather feel as if the car loved me back as well.
And never forget that, The girl in the Porsche is wearing nice perfume, while the girl in the TVR is wearing no knickers....
Best TVR summation I've ever heard! And never forget that, The girl in the Porsche is wearing nice perfume, while the girl in the TVR is wearing no knickers....
Shamelessly stolen to spread the word!

Some great posts here and for me its the TVR all day long. At time of buying was toing between a Cerb (after just decommissioning my dads and got the bug), an R35 GTR (test drive), XK-R (extended test time) and a DBS... of all the cars only the Jag came close to the feel of how power was felt... the GTR was ultimate but you could never tell as it was just SO composed and never felt ballistic!
So I bought my own Cerb and the feeling can't be described from the drive to just sitting in and making it start and the ACT decay sport pipe makes it even more immense! but the one thing that does it for mis the tinkering and taking it to your TVR mechanic of choice (Power for me) and having set exactly as you want and not via the push of a button so it reflect me and what I want to a T and its that feeling of it being an extension of me and not just a car that does it overtime IMO!.. With it being silver he was even named "Argento"
And as to reliability the car is alive treat him well and it loves you back... at least mine does anyway.
