Raw photographs don't lie, cuts out any ambiguity that may creep into the written word by disgruntled customers. You either think the work you see is acceptable, and you'd be happy to spend thousands of your hard earned on something with a (possibly) similar end result, or you don't.
The photos are certainly worth more than any words you could post, they are truly horrible examples of poor work and poor workshop management. How on earth can a car be allowed out of a workshop with that sort of finish As for Zippee's incredible elastic paint, words fail me not an optional extra you would want to pay for.
I am fortunate I have not had to deal with anything like that to date and I applaud you both for the way you have posted the evidence and hope that everything has, or will, be sorted to your satisfaction albeit possibly requiring you to pay someone else to resolve the issues on display.

Shocking! And the guy who did the paint job phoned S&D and told them not to deal with you ......?????????
Not quite. PHer who worked for the company just threw the insults, he only worked there - didn't do the paint.Worse was Pher Glowworm, who I must stress I've never met, never spoken to, never before come across. ON a thread last year whilst I was looking for an alternate spray shop to sort this out decided to trawl through a years worth of my posts until he found 1 where I sang the praises of the cowboy garage - this was mid repair and way before I knew anything was wrong. From this he started throwing various posts around before then actually phoning S&D to recommend they don't deal with me??? Why I have no idea, to this date he's never explained. Personally I'd love to meet him to ask him in person, one day.......

I also think that the best way to not break the N&S rules is to simply post pictures up of the work carried out, they are worth more than a thousand (angry) words.
You mean like these? Not from the bodyshop in question but another large cowboy outfit.
Elastic paint anyone?
How many layers of paint then filler then paint then filler would sir like? Each layer uncovered still being soft and not dry.
Tony you sure you didn't ask them to wrap it originally, looks like they could have a future in the wrapping business You mean like these? Not from the bodyshop in question but another large cowboy outfit.

Great post.... Although I would love to know The three business in question but guess if the time comes for work paint work to be done a simple post I'm sure will reveal all.
Tony, is the place local to us?
Fairly. Think of a famous 80s England goalkeeper and you'll nearly be there. Tony, is the place local to us?
For me they even inspected the car with my insurance assessor and still denied anything was wrong when we were pointing it directly out to them. I had marks in the paint, peeling paint especially on the roof line, paint was so soft a small stonechip could turn into a 1" hole in days and you could pick the paint off with a flick of your fingernail. This doesn't begin to describe how tatty it looked though and it just got worse when s&d started stripping it back.
This isn't a1 man band type of place and they do restoration on some very high end classics -I only hope the owners of those get better results than I did.
In the end my insurers agreed to cover a full respray elsewhere. This cost almost 10k as every bit of paint had to come off, in many areas back to the glass. To any that still doubt - how many insures would just stick their hands in their pockets and agree to that if it wasn't truly bad?
Could someone send me an email listing the specialist in question ?
Those photos are truly shocking of such poor quality and care. Our cars are our pride and joy, if someone did that to my car I would be fuming! This is why we use specialists because we want a quality job.
Thanks.
Paul.

80s goalie, big perm, surname shilt..
Is it Alison Moyet, sounds just like him?80s goalie, big perm, surname shilt..
The opposite of what's being discussed here, although Dom pisses me off sometimes (equally, I bet he gets pissed off with me, asking dumb-ass questions..) crucially, I have never come away from Powers with anything other than a huge inane grin on my face, and I am happy to trust his company for all engine work. I use David Gerald (CWR now) for lesser stuff, and they are a great bunch, and I have found them very accommodating (They took my exhaust off for me and let me finish wrapping it, then put it back on).
With those two above, I am always 99.9% sure I wont be disappointed when I get my P&J back.
Must confess I went on a run to Le Mans a few years back and a chap's clutch failed, turned out he'd run out of hydraulic fluid. As we were all chatting I decided to whip the cover of mine and low and behold it was almost empty. This surprised me as it had been serviced by a well know specialist only weeks before. It was obvious from the sealant that they hadn't checked the clutch fluid and I told them how pissed off I was. Basically if they don't do that how can you trust them to do anything? Since then i) I check it myself and ii) I write the date it was last checked on an elastoplast which I stick over the cap. It's an aide memoire and a tell-tale for the service mechanic. Although I've never used that particular specialist again.
I've had my car nearly 20 years, when nearly new the service regime included full strip down of the brakes, refacing, many more fluid checks/changes. Over the years servicing costs actually dropped a bit, and things were dropped from the service list, headline prices especially for the rover v8's dropped, so now they just do the basics in many cases.
I'm sure that was driven by people looking for lowest service price, rather than enthusiasts demanding a quality job, sad side effect is that people started to cut corners, or as I have also seen create extra work that wasn't required.
