Worst bit of mickey mouse design on a tvr?!
Discussion

Love my TVR to bits but there are a few bits on it that the designer/engineer must have been having a bad day on. Anybody got any funny ones they want to share?
For the Chimaera:
Battery box... sort of hits you like "Oh yeah, I knew we'd forgotten something.... we need to put the battery somewhere, let's put it in the passenger footwell... oh and let's make a fibre glass box for it to sit in... and for good measure have it so that you can only remove the battery by unbolting the box from under the car"
ECU... " , that space we had left to mount the ECU in is now occupied by our new battery box! Oh, just shove it on top of the battery and add a few electrical gubbins and bits of wiring loom for good measure"
Handbrake adjust..."OK guys, it's gonna need adjusting pretty regularly so let's stick it under the car just above the exhaust"
Micky Mouse? Pluto could have come up with better solutions!!!

Using parts bin products isn't Mickey Mouse - it's sound sense. It's why the cars don't cost twice as much. Some would argue that more parts bin usage would result in a better product...
Ted,
Know what you mean - but when the side indicators have the "Ford" logo on them it kinda looks mickey mouse. And thats just one of the more obvious one...
Cheers,
Paul
Having to take the rad out to sort the lights / screen wash
2" bolts holding the bonnet on when you can turn the rachet about 1 tooth at a time
Having to remove a speaker and have an arm that bends in 45 separate places to remove 1 piece of door trim
But more importantly
How bloody cool is it to drive

The side indicators on my TVR are the same as on US-spec E-types and the rear lights are the same as the Aston Martin DBSV8. Moral - buy an older TVR for a better quality parts-bin indentity.
How about the aluminium threaded rods for the bonnet catch on the cerb - thread stops exactly at the point where the greatest loads will be.....
.... or the control boxes stuffed in behind the dashboard resting on the steering column..... or the way that complete strangers stare at you in awe at your obvious engineering skills and courage (as in "wtf is that guy doing?"), as you dismantle the engine to get at the clutch cylinder whilst parked (aka "stuck") in an International Airport Multi-storey car park - embarrassingly close to the lifts, of course, 'cos you're a lazy b@st@rd.....

Using leven tech/zertec type alloy switch gear originally would cost under a hundred squid and would remove one of the most visual and imho daft mickey mouse effects.
