Hey folks, just a heads up if you haven't read 'TVR: Cars of the Peter Wheeler era' by Ralph Dodds.
I've been looking at TVR's for a while now and am always hungry for more info on the mark, especially the Chimaera, Cerbera and Tuscan as these are the models that I'm particularly lusting after. I ordered this book back in June as a birthday pressie for myself and eagerly awaited its release which was slated for August. However, the release day came and went with no book and as the weeks passed I started to lose hope that I'd see this book at all. I came close to cancelling the order a few times but, a few weeks ago, I got a message from Amazon informing me the book had finally been given a revised release date, whoop!
I received the book yesterday and I'm very glad that I didn't cancel the order. It's a cracking read, full of information and history on TVR as well as develpment info on each of the models mentioned above and many more. Glossy pictures and owners stories round the book out nicely and reading through it has only served to increase my appetite to own one of Blackpools finest.
Not being a TVR owner or having read any other books on the mark, I don't know how much new info this publication offers but I will certainly find it of great use when searching out the right TVR for me.

Hi Jonathan

If you want further info, mainly on the Chimaera another book to read would be The TVR Griffith and Chimaera by Steve Heath

Very much a nuts and bolts book but a lot of valuable information

Interesting, I also noticed it didn't appear when it was supposed to and was disappointed. Might get it now that it's available in hardback. Thanks for the heads up.

I was wondering how it turned out in the end. Ralph had some photos of my Tuscan for it, would be good to know if they made it in. They were from this series with the prior reg:

or maybe the one on my PH profile.

Will go on the xmas list if it's in there cool

Beastie, thanks for the heads up on the Steve Heath book. Nuts and bolts books are just my ticket as i'm very much a hands on owner so this will be going on the chrimbo list for sure, cheers!
Speedy, as gorgeous as your Tuscan is, I've had a good look through but sadly can't find any pictures of it in the book. Sorry pal.

Thanks for looking and yes, the 450SE at Castle Coombe was mine from '89 to '95. It also appreared in an Autocar 0-100-0 test, but that is a whole other story!

Sorry it was delayed. It was printed in China (apparently all books are printed there now as even with the cost of shipping its much cheaper - shame) and it was delayed over there. The originally planned launch date was 15th July so that it could be launched at the TVRCC 59th gathering at Millbrook.

Great read, Ralph, very professional I have all the other books that have been written, but a completely different take, well done.

Great book - at last, a book that gives equal chapter space to the T cars, rather than just another 'updated' reprint with all the newer cars just tagged on at the end of a new small chapter, I love it.

I wasn't aware of this book but as it's written by Ralph, who must have been around TVR for most if not all of the Wheeler era, I will certainly buy it. smile

Yes it is, on the first page of the 'Chimaera' chapter. Picture of it outside the factory. You also get a mention in the Acknowledgements at the start
