I used to be with Mannings when I first had the car. Cover was fine until I needed more miles, at which point they just said "no". Hence the change to the far more flexible Classic Line. Only issue with them, if you call it an issue, is that their inclusive track day cover is limited to 6 a year, after which it costs £53 per event.
So, who's counting? Or do you have to notify them?
They only cover events organised by an ATDO member, or by a car club. So Javelin or MSV events are fine, as are TVRCC events etc. I am not sure the ad hoc events organised by the lads at Curborough would qualify.
You phone them in advance and they confirm by return of post that you are covered for that event. You are supposed to call or email in advance each time, but on occasion I have called them on leaving the briefing.....

Hi Pete,

I would be interested to know what quotes you get given your modifications. I had a couple of no bids and a very high quote from Classicline. It could be post code is a factor for me

I went with MSM Insurance after contacting all the big names mentioned. The insurer is KGM Motor Insurance.

They charged me £419 for my tiddly 4.0 litre, value £19,999 (has to be under £20k if not parked in a garage), mileage limit of 5,000 (from speedo), including 90 days Euro travel. S.D.P. only so track days not included.
Fully comprehensive cover.

The no claims discount is only 20% as it is a new policy. 3 claims in 5 years, all non-fault on main trade policy (could have had 3rd party only on the trade policy except for the turbo mod).

This included the turbo mod and the bigger brake upgrade fully declared.

I'm around the same age as you I think eek,

+1 for classicline, as a broker top service, knowledgable polite efficient etc etc - their insurer ERS, well all I'll say is I'm glad they're not in the brewery business (you only find out how good an insurance co is when you have to make a claim)

Try REIS. Just under £400 for 8K miles a year, albeit with a large excess.

Big wave for RH insurance.

I can't remember exactly what I pay, but around £550 for the Tuscan and wedge. I'm 31, both on about 4k mileage (which i will never do but rather over do it), can choose my own repairer and their breakdown cover (which they only send flatbeds when you tell them you need one unlike others who send a mechanic to tell you you need a flatbed!)

Thanks for all the information up to now guys.

I've been pretty busy so Monday I'll be making phone calls.

I will let you know the result!

Mind you, given the weather , (It was snowing a short while ago) this is the first time I am thinking of letting it lapse, mind you I will regret it on those nice crisp dry days. smile.

Wow!

Speaking as a senior member of the human race, my quote should be very acceptable.

I will certainly give them a ring .

Automatic cover while at non-competitive club-organised track days, hill climbs and sprints.

(the Speed Championships are counted as non-competitive as only 1 car on track)
Heritage would insure the sag as its not a classic, bust be built before 1980 to be a classic according to them so wouldnt look at the chim either !!!

Red Handed tongue out have sort a quote with 330BHP now , my guess was a bit low I think, not had mine rolling roaded. interestingly the insurance industry still believes 5.0 lt had 340 from standard.

Yes, I know it's a 5.5, yes I have declared different wheels, brakes and roll bar but still, for a careful, claim free, experienced, (err hmm) driver, a bit steep I thought.

Are there any other reputable sensibly priced insurers that are recommended?
ring classic line Peter

Dont ignore the mainstream insurers ( I know they dont do track day cover, but maybe this can be had seperatly)

I pay £191 with Privilege multicar thingy and have up to 4K miles per year ( market value - not agreed value though) . Car is a Chim 500

On second thoughts I guess they may not like your mods !
