Morning chaps,

The interior light relay on the Griff stopped working ages ago and I've finally got a replacement relay but can't get the old one out.
It's in a tight spot at the top of the fuse box in the passenger footwell and though I can get my hand to it the outer casing is pulling off rather than the relay coming out.

Does anyone have tips for getting it out, I'm fresh out of ideas.

It may sound daft but sticking on a surgical type disposable glove or a rubber glove might just give you enough purchase to be able to squeeze and grip the case and pull the whole relay out.

Failing that just pull off the case then go back with a glove on and pull it out by its innards.

You'll need to wiggle it a bit at the same time if you can.

Never used one on a car, but there are relay pullers available, generally need a bit of room in front of the relay though.

Take the fuse box out so you can get to the relay better?

I think it's held to the bulk head with a bolt through to the wheel arch

I'd try getting the fusebox out to get better access - as above it's held by a bolt through into the wheelarch - get that out and the whole lot comes loose. Then you can get a flat screwdriver in sideways to lever the remains of the relay out. Sounds like maybe a rusty fusebox if the relays proper stuck frown

Sometimes you can feed a cable-tie underneath, particularly useful if you want to remove non-destructively.
