New TVR update

Hate to be negative but Chrysler Crossfire ? not wild about the triangle shape on the door,I hope Les is just playing with us..
It does very much look like the Autocar rendering, which either means it's smoke and mirrors or it was released to Autocar to help them gauge reception. I actually think it is too conservative, whilst I understand if you want to sell more than hundreds you can't be too wacky, I just can't help but think it's not bold enough. I'm with you on the V groove, seems out of place when everything else is curves.Tvr Power said:
Ford gt are releasing there new car in 2017 why can't TVR do this in real format and not a virtual rendering designed by AutoCar...
Dom
I'm very excited by the new car, but just can't see it happening until a much later date.
got the email - picture looks very similar to the one Autocar had months back. Still not sure of the styling as a complete package though.
The 2 things 'wrong' to me are the way the tail just falls away instead of kicking up, and the straight '<' shape between the wing and the door in an otherwise curvy car. But I guess if they were curved in typical TVR fashion and they kicked-up the tail it would be near as dammit a Typhon again.
And of course there's no real sense of scale - is this a small car like a T350, or something much larger like Maser Grand Turismo sized? I'm assuming something pretty compact.
But it's also missing the 'wow' factor many TVRs of old had. The Sagaris was maybe a step too far (for me at least), but a C7 Corvette is jaw-dropping in comparison to this. But I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it in the flesh. Maybe it just needs a lairy colour. My Cerb was Yellow and I quite fancy that again, and the Tuscan is Purple and I like that too. I'm certainly thinking that with a nondescript colour this shape isn't going to stand out. Then again, that may be what some folks want.

That image is indeed based on the Autocar 'artists impression' so it's still a stab in the dark drawn from a discussion. As the email says the design is still fluid so while the hard points are fixed they still have scope to alter things.
From things Les has stated publicly I think the side profile of the backend of the car belies something much more extreme when viewed in 3/4 or from directly behind, I have a image in my mind that I hope it comes close to.
Again tweaking elements of a sketch to make doors work in reality is easy.
The lack of a factory is not an issue as has been mentioned several times due to the 'just in time' nature of the iStream assembly process which only requires large, modern open factory space. It reminds me of the processes used by Pagani and Keonigsegg albeit on a larger scale.

Because 2017 is a sadly a totally unrealistic launch date for a completely new car. Having met Les at one of the tvr meetings, i wholeheartedly applaud what he's doing, and do believe he's going about it very well, however setting a launch date (even just a specific year) is foolish given there isn't even a factory yet. For a 2017 launch, he needs to be in the middle of a testing program of a completed car at the moment, not looking round the country for suitable land to build a factory, having not even decided if the chassis is carbon or not.
I'm very excited by the new car, but just can't see it happening until a much later date.
My understanding of the iStream process is that it makes setting up the factory far less time critical than traditional manufacturing methods. It seems to be implied by GM that any old building can be sourced and the equipment installed and switched on, ready to go at extremely short notice. I'm very excited by the new car, but just can't see it happening until a much later date.
I certainly didn't get the impression they had to either scour the country to find a plot of land or build anything, just decide where they wanted to be and then lease any type of industrial unit that had the right square footage.
I agree that 2017 seems bullish but as I've said before, this is only because I don't fully understand the benefits of the iStream process.

So what you're saying is that this sketch looks a bit like 3 cars that you buy from manufacturers with proven track records and big factory back up and resources..........DonkeyApple said:

Give it a rest Dom. You've made your bed. Dom
Looks fantastic! (As said, now is not the time for negativity and it does look very striking.)
I haven't had this email from TVR, although I had all the earlier ones, having previously 'expressed an interest'. Anyone else not received this? (And no, it's not in my spam folder!)
Looking forward to the next installment. Kind of wishing I'd rashly put down a deposit now!

Les & Co are trying to rebuild a brand that frankly carries a fair amount of baggage. Creating a credable vehicle that stands out in the modern world is a huge undertaking, and so far I'm very impressed with how they've gone about it. They've very cleverly trickle fed us bits of info. You only have to watch the reactions on here and FB to see that this method is maintaining the excitement. Also, they've delivered everything they've promised, and on time so far. This counts for a lot when building confidence within your customer base, surely you understand that Dom? They even hint at where to go and look if you want to see more!
If they put it all on the table now what would there be to maintain our intrigue between now and 2017?

Please do us a favour in 2016 and focus on keeping your business going and worrying less about something that has absolutely nothing to do with you and really never did.
Happy Christmas.

... the Aston looks awful and just plain dull! however I dont think anyone generally thinks that about astons...
Only as long as you don´t park a TVR next to an Aston. We went to shop for an Aston and took the Tuscan there......very bad idea!

Why should they reveal the whole car? Ford is in a very different position, they are vast, established, and much, much more mainstream - even if the GT product isn't. Their fan base means that interest will see them through to product launch.

Love the excitement of dripping information out. yes it would be interesting to see if any PH'ds are near Cosworth and clock the comings and goings, I understand they have Corvettes, Mustangs and older TVRs In the car park, I presume one of those has the new car running gear fitted. Although it wouldn't surprise me if its not just plonked into a Mustang as the simplest solution. Wonder if the SLR mule Cerberas, bright silver, are up and running with it as they already had their chassis widened to take the Mercedes lump.Les & Co are trying to rebuild a brand that frankly carries a fair amount of baggage.
