I love my TVRs (I have 3!) - but I think the hype in this is just too much, competing with 1/4 million pound cars is frankly laughable. Back in the day when a £50k TVR could compete with almost everything, but were in a different world now, every manufacturer now has sport car divisions, and the supercar companies have massively raised their games to keep the GAP between themselves and normal road cars.

They really do have the right people behind this - but to say it will compete with a 488/Huracan/McLaren(take your pick) - is frankly laughable. Given the VAST £££ that McLaren had to setup and many many years of experience (and small runs like F1) behind them it has still taken them several years to get it right. In comparison TVR are doing it on a shoestring.

I see them producing a fantastic car hopefully in the spirit of TVR, but it is not going to be a supercar (or compete with them) - I want it to be something that is fun to drive at sane speeds, and have the noise + passion and can compete with something like a M3/M4/911 - to me that would be a massive success.

So please TVR - calm down with the marketing - otherwise you will have serious mud on your face.

i like the grey rendering, and there are some obvious changes/improvements compared to the original orange autocar images.

What do you want me to do, go through them? Even in the low res versions:

The rear light clusters recessed into the body a little more, back quarter body panel line smoothed, shape of the lower rear apron has been amended, side skirts detail changed towards the rear arches, the sideways V shape behind the front arch has been changed to incorporate a horizontal element just in front of the door gap, and the front brake calipers moved (although i suspect that's down to the comedy attempt at changing the wheels).

Whether or not these are all intentional changes, the certainly haven't just taken the original image and changed the colour and the wheels.

Not at all. I did it as much for my own interest to see them side by side, a sort of TVR spot the difference laugh

Clearly the Christmas spirit hasn't come to MrChips house yet frown

Now now chaps, play nicely, it's Christmas! The changes are subtle but make a difference. The wheels I don't like but hopefully there will be options of wheel style.

Still not clear what the body material will be? Plastic I assum? With carbon fibre chassis and plastic body panels there shouldn't be any future rust issues to be concerned about.

Ford gt are releasing there new car in 2017 why can't TVR do this in real format and not a virtual rendering designed by AutoCar...

Dom
Give it a rest Dom. You've made your bed.
DonkeyApple lad yes ive made my own bed and boy i sleep very very well.. its a simple question why wont Tvr show the real McCoy opposed to virtual designs altered 1 yr later with 10 profile tyres and cheesy wheels, maybe im missing something here.....

Dom
Then why don't you stop bhing and sniping like some old queen. For someone 'who sleeps well' you don't half mince about whinging, insinuating and generally displaying all the characteristics of a child whose toys are out of the pram.

Please do usme a favour in 2016 and focus on keeping your business going and worrying less about something that has absolutely nothing to do with you and really never did.

Happy Christmas.

i posted this on Blatters in response to the point it looks the same as the Autocar picture and wondered if there is a different set of posters on here that might comment on this observation.

To be fair there have been some minor tweaks around the door and tail.

Another way to look at it; is it a copy of the Autocar rendering or was the Autocar rendering a viral market test released unattributed by TVR.

the other school of thought is it looks absolutely nothing like the real car but TVR are happy to continue to play along with the Autocar rendering until they are happy to stun the world with staggeringly beautiful new design.

my money is on the second position; The original Autocar release was actually a market test given to them by TVR. In which case I think it looks a little too conservative. No one thinks that coming out with a son of Sagaris is the right thing to do with your 'mass' market relaunch, but something between the two is probably right.

I'm still getting excited myself. Time will tell if that's wasted emotion or not.....

I'm not a fan of those wheels, and don't think they remind me of my SP12s as your bucks based (very near me) I say lots of drives in 2916 to check.

Have a great Xmas and new year mate and all.

PS I'm 50/50 on the new car looks great it the grey!

I postulated this on Piston Heads months ago , but for clarity i reiterate herewith. ...
The first car we will see will be a racer, it will by definition , be fast and built and designed to be competitive In It's Class.. furthermore it will ignite the latent TVR fascination that most Petrol Heads secretly harbour... combined with the orders already placed by the Disciples , Les and Gordon et al will secure enough orders - cometh the day - to make production viable.
They'll take a chance on the numbers and will build.
Despite the st talkers, the cars will sell in the numbers they need ... Porsche, F Type M series and Nissan GTR buyers may give them the widest of births.. BUT .those that stand up to the plate and commission a build will be rewarded with a flawed genius and their lives will be all the better for it smokin..

Looks Amazing smile. I heard it was going to be slightly bigger than the T350. Sports Cars these days are getting bigger and bigger, more aligned to a GT which for me is a bad thing. Keep them small and nimble! Give these guys a chance before you rip them apart in traditional British fashion. Celebrate the fact they are bringing TVR back to life, it's all good news!

Surprised at that response sir, but it was late...

No offence meant to anyone John biggrin. I may have had the odd tipple last night.. I've recently downsized, sold the Sp6 road cars to concentrate on the race stuff. I'm actually looking for something German and possibly rear engined for road use.. maybe auto yikes TVR road cars are too hard core for me , that purple SP6 was a lot of fun,but scarily quick.

I very much doubt that's a TVR mule. Why modify an all out of proportion Weismann when TVR themselves have plenty of spare body shells lying around. Heck, there is even a picture of LE sat in a raw Tuscan conv. bodyshell when referencing prototypes and dropping heavy hints about what to be on the look out for in the Northampton area.

So with that said, I reckon we can expect to see a slightly odd looking Tuscan conv. with non standard wheels, side exit exhausts, and some purposeful looking rear diffuser treatment doing the rounds as the mule.

Of course, we should expect some obligatory 'ring spy shots in the spring/summer to get everyone frothing with excitement and postulating ludicrously about sub 7min lap times.

My presumption is the test mule will be running out of Cosworth HQ which is in Northampton. The first run of LE cars are I think being assembled at GMD in Surrey.
The final factory location is likely be central so I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't between Oxford - Northampton like a lot of UK motorsport facilities....
