I remember selling my first Tamora, before we went to live and work in Italy. At the time, I had no idea just how much I would miss that car. They are still as exciting and rewarding to drive now as they were 'back in the day'. I don't think we'll ever see their like again.

I note that car hasn't been taxed or MOT's since 2011.

Never mind, I have another!

I would love to get my wife a Chim one day - but she already has two cars, and from tomorrow, a company car!
Maybe it has a private plate on it?

Just tried using the original plate with my latest Tam, it says it cannot be found, so it must still have the original FE02BKK. Could have gone abroad, I guess..
Can you do that? I think if a private plate is put on a car the original is not re-issued. So, maybe your baby is still around

I give you the worst car ever made in the history of all car making ever
What was the issue, early warranty-fest dog or just didn't get on with the different dynamics to the Chim ?

Great story btw
I had a snag list of 60+ items! Everything was faulty, even the windscreen. It broke down every time I went out in it. Eventually I sent it back on a low loader the day after it came back from the factory for the third time.

It cost £40,000 back in 02 and was an utter disgrace. What really did me was the attitude of TVR

I remember my Chim being in for a service when Tuscans had only been out about 6 months and they had a Tuscan up on the ramp. Chatting with service manager, he said it had over 100 seperate faults being done under warranty eek

That said, I love mine over 15 years later, they had done a much better job by 2004 when it was built biggrin
yes it was the final death knell of TVR, using their customers as test drivers whilst Boxsters, S2000 etc were all coming up on the rails.

The last one has passed 11 MOTs with no advisories...can that be a record!? (although the fuel line did split on the last one, giving us all a big scare!)
I missed this. I call bullst - no TVR gets through an MOT without an advisory that the handbrake performance is 'minimal' biggrin

It's interesting to compare your experiences to my 19 years worth.
My first came in 1997 a 1983 Tasmin 280i used as a daily in Germany and Switzerland.

That was joined in 2003 by a 1993 Chimaera 400 that became my new daily.

In September 2006 I bought my first Tuscan. That was a 2000. Loved it for about 30 of the 34 miles I drove before it went off for a rebuild. That's when I learned the true meaning of patience.
The car was ready in Feb 2007, ran it in, drove to Germany and in March had to have it shipped back for more engine work.
After that it was amazing. Became my new daily until early 2009 when I wrapped it around a tree. I say wrapped but FRP doesn't do that well. frown

That led me in May the same year to my most wonderful 2006 Tuscan convertible. Smiles returned.

I did buy another Chimaera 400 in 2012 but that didn't work out.

And finally the Tuscan now has the company of a 1998 Cerbera 4,2. That's having a top end rebuild but already love it.

Great thread. Still loving my Tuscan nearly 12 yrs, and 47k miles later. Has covered many chunks of the UK and much of Europe in between.

Think that pic is in Harringworth, literally on the border of Northants and Rutland.
Identified as Seaton area...which yes is Harringworth.
