Thanks very much Bob!
Sadly we will never learn if poor Gizzer ever succeeded with his Great Dane. frown

Indeed, personally I like to believe he did. The Newfoundland was impressive?

I've had a lot of Great Danes but no TVR, but I have stuff them into all sorts of cars: Quite easygoing dogs.

Gave it one try and the answer appears to be 'not a hope'.
Biggest problem was actually where to put the other two.

Well known elan specialist the late Mick Miller used to go out for runs with his Irish Wolf hound in the passenger seat of his Elan Sprinr

Lots of great photos on here of dogs in cars including a great dane question!
anyone know how to get 2 x Alaskan Malamutes, a Siberian Husky and a Jack Russell into a Griff!
I used to put my GSDxLab on the front passenger seat, harnessed to the seat belt. He did slide around a bit, but loved the air-flow! smile

Hello my friend, are you asking about a dog in the car because everyone is now afraid to be your passenger? wink

Not everything is lost yet.
I have heard of events looking for drivers to give charity passenger rides. hehe

No, dog is only needed for occasional sensible conversations.

Took my border collie on last year's TVR Peak District run. He made even more friends than I did, and thoroughly enjoyed running up and down in the lake at Buxton at lunch time.
I also have a cocker spaniel, and when both come out with me the spaniel goes on the shelf behind the seats, while the collie occupies the passenger seat. Both wear harnesses, collie attached to the seat belt, spaniel to the roll cage.

Not big dogs (collie is only 32kg), but fun having them with me when Handbrake decides to stay at home.
I will try to dig out some photos later.

A couple of years ago I was doing some painting and decided the N/S seat belt needed replacing, removed the pass seat to give me better access,,,, when I was done I tried the dog basket in place of the seat,, fitted perfectly,, so left the seat out for over a month for the dog to enjoy,, trouble is she's like handbrake ( haha) and always wants to see the road ahead,, i re instated the seat and the dogs far happier,, when I first got my Chimaera I did over 10,000 miles in the first year and I reckon the dog clocked up abut 8000 of those miles with me,, to drive through little villages and seaside towns with the dog sitting upright and looking forward was really a lot of fun, she got more attention than the car.
