I'll be there too!!
Presently shod with R1Rs (the car, not me, I am presently shod with socks and sandals, being English ), but I am chucking my new A048s in the back of the tow-Saab as well as some tools and a compressor.
And I am a cheapskate too......A048s in 17 inch are £960 a set, but I got mine for £300 off the 25 year old owner of a show Imprezza WRC, who thought they were a good idea until his nearest and dearest refused to have her spine jarred every journey. Still full tread depth. Hoping they will turn out to be one of my better EBay purchases.

Will we see you there, 77?

I'd have been up for this but unfortunately by the time I found out about it the day was fully booked.

I'm going to go to Merlin Motorsport at Combe on Friday to have a look at some harnesses so I'll pop in to Hullavington and say hello.

Hopefully pick up some tips from you track day gurus!

I can bring along a GoPro or two if anyone wants to borrow one for the afternoon.

Anthony, we met at the last TVRCC day at Cadwell (just to prove I'm not some random bloke off the internet!)

If you want to drive on track it may be worth a call tomorrow to MotorSport Events to see if anyone has cancelled.

Or just ask when you turn up - someone is bound to have broken down or gone home at lunch time, so you stand a good chance of some track time at reduced rate if you turn up around 12/1 ish.

Otherwise you are most welcome to pop in after your visit to Merlin. If you look at Google maps, the entrance for us is off Wellington Avenue and onto the airfield. As you will also see from Google Maps (other maps are available), you can get straight across country from Castle Combe to Hullavington. I have a spare helmet if you don't have one.

AO48's reportedly a very close call to 888's?I would have loved to come along but I have been to Merlin today at Combe to purchase a new Hans Helmet as mine is no good for Europe just because the calendar turned over to 2016 furious I left £1,200 lighter just before the start of the season, just what I needed...........not! At the moment I am only booked on one trackday for this year at Donnington Park, Book a track, 14th June.

That's what puts me off racing, along with not being competitive enough. Money. And lack of track time for all that money.
I get enough pleasure out of driving the car faster and controlling it at speed. But I can see in Mat Smith's eyes what exhilaration it brings to those who love it.

Yes, I am hoping to find out how A048s compare with R888s on Friday. Peter's Federals are better than the price suggests - I did 10 track days on my set.

Yep Motor racing cost money , if it didn't we'd all be doing it. Quality rather than quantity maybe. I would rather drive a rolls Royce for a morning than a citreon saxo for a day. As to weather you are quick enough depends on what your aspirations are I guess. It's not all about the top three steps. Much more of my best racing was/is done in the mid pack when three or four cars are involved. When you been in a battle for 30 mins with another car trying to out fox him the grin is way better than the grin the first day you bought a TVR. Think about coming with Peter to Brands Gp on 23rd July as my guest, Peter is part of my Pit crew for a 40min endure 40 car grid, compulsory pit stop. Get in the action on pit lane see if you like the atmosphere.

I'm told that MX5 racing is affordable and the racing is fag paper close but I guess that's irrelevant for us as we need it to be TVR biggrin

Thanks for that generous offer - it is much appreciated and I will be there, barracking and handing out the refreshments. I know my limitations, having had a brake caliper fall off last time I changed my own pads.

I have been to Rockingham and Snetterton with Mat Smith, passing spanners and pumping brake pedals for both him and Martin Crass in the DTEC. Indeed, it was me that got Mat on track, driving my car around Snetterton one summer's evening, that started his interest in actually race driving rather than just preparing cars and pit crewing.

What series is this race? Mat might be interested, as he was doing some races in Bernie's V8s last season, as well as the DTEC, and is keen to do more race weekends.

It was good to meet you, Alun, Lorraine, Peter, Paul and Mary, and Bluebottle and Chloe. After the fog first thing it turned into a splendid day. And thanks for your advice on boiling brake fluid and trailing braking. I put the latter into operation once the former was solved, and it improved my under steer issue.

A great day as said.

Not the most mileage heavy TD but enjoyable just the same.

Apart from driving our p & js to the limit, (ish) it was really enjoyable doing what we do best, plenty of pit area jibber jabber with like minded friends and mutual tivvers.

After about 5 months of not driving my car I know now that it really is a great car, not the best road car but a great fast car!

It has a reprieve..........

Roll on the next event..........
