Hello,
I require a new passenger seat belt for my car, I read somewhere the exact
same seat belt is used on a Land Rover defender, which model or serial number
should I be quoting?
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Lastly any tips to cure the world's slowest electric window?!!

Securon is the company often recommended

For a Chimaera It looks like you need a 500/30, available in Black, Red, Blue, Grey or Beige

I just bought 2 seat belts for my '98 Chim. Got them from www.paddockspares.com part number SEC50030. Cost a lot less than TVR spares sites....A LOT LESS!!

I was on the verge of buying a pair of the the Securon 500/30 from Paddock but then I started having some doubts.

Stumpage, have you fitted yours yet and can you confirm they're a good replacement for the originals?

I'm thinking specifically of the fact that the stalks on the Securons are 30cm vs 26cm and that the bracket that attaches down by the door sill is about 10cm long on the OE ones and has a slight bend in it.

Or am I worrying too much?

Rob

They fitted perfectly. But I did have two different belts in my car before I changed them. One was the same as the 500/30 and the other had a shorter stalk about 15cm, the shorter one looked like it had replaced at some time before I took ownership of the car.

I decided to get two news ones 500/30 and fit them and they fitted perfectly but I did use the existing bolts for the fixing on the floor as the smaller bolt head made it easier. You will need to remove the seat first but it really is a 15min job.

Hope these photos help

Just out of interest is the bolt that holds the catch on( the one for the 30cm stalk) screwed into the chassis or is it a nut and bolt?

Hello!!
Sorry I can't help David Batty of the Garage fitted
mine. They are a good alternative for the originals.
But like the originals - they don't always work at first,
occasionally they jam. But so did the originals.
Probably because when original installed the bolts were
not straight.

I bought these and they fitted fine, 98 5ltr.

Not being the best at mechanics I started on the passenger side first. I got the seat out and some bolts, but the one that holds the reel goes through the chassis and comes out in the back wheel arch. I was unable to free this bolt. Despite two quite strong blokes it would not shift.

I popped it into my local garage who did it for me and commented what a bas*ard of a job it was, so glad I paid £75.

By the way when installing them if the reel is not level a ball bearing will lock in place and the belt will not come out.

The 500/30 are not the correct belts for these cars. The stalk is far too long. You may get away with it if you are of a larger disposition or you have the seat pulled forward. However put the seats back and be of slim build and the buckle ends up near your belly button. All just my opinion of course but I wouldn't be fitting them.

I think for a svelte 15 stone they seem fine..or as they say I am the wrong height for my
weight!
