Carl Baker replaced/updated my Meta alarm on the Griff a few years back. Fiddling around today I noticed that the interior motion sensor is not activating the alarm.
I remember Carl demonstrated a procedure for enabling/disabling the interior alarm, but can't for the life if me remember how. It looks as though I might have disabled it inadvertently - any advice on how to reactivate?
PM me if not considered appropriate for public knowledge.

send him an email and he should respond. He showed me how to do this once but i can't remember!

If you find out when he is back in the UK, he will repair it for you as well, at least he did repair mine.

If the alarm is a Meta HPAT, then the sensors are disabled by pushing button 2 on the remote twice after arming the system, but before the system has armed fully. This gives three chirps from the siren to confirm. AFAIK the setting is cancelled the next time you disarm the system (although I've never checked that it does). I turn off the sensors all the time, as they are one of the things that drains the battery on a rarely used Chim.

Understand from a relatively recent chat with Carl that he is now doing a package of work on Chimaeras, more like an overhaul, including boot release and some other "secret changes" that he doesn't want to reveal but will benefit the car. One sneak peak was a wire from the starter that can chaff on the chassis and would be checked. Cost is approx £650, which is a lot more than the old immobiliser overhaul used to cost.

Left me with a bit of a difficult decision as it sounds like the changes are important but without details of exactly what you are getting it's difficult to decide if you want to pay the £650. The boot release would be a nice to have but really, I just want the 'hot start' issue sorted. Obviously, if there were other serious issues, I would be happy to pay to have them sorted.

Has anyone had this done / know any more details ?

I've had Carl's 'upgrade' done on two Chims & what you get back is a completely reliable car with absolutely no leccy gremlins whatsoever. It's literally the best money I have ever spent on the car.

Carl's just done mine at £650. He spends a good chunk of time on it though as he checks over the electrics generally.

Mine had the hot start issue and was a bit bandy when it came to the electrics generally...all now sorted with the key, boot release etc all in the one fob. No issues at all now. Only thing that might be nice is for the fob to allow for a folding key.

Thanks both,
Other than the hot start issue, my car is and always has been reliable electrically. No issues that I am aware of.

The other option I have found is Abacus Alarms in London, who appear to know of the hot start issue (see their website) and provide a rejigged immobiliser with the main relays swapped over to match TVR's wiring error. The cost is £110.

I would be happy to pay the £650 but aside from the wire chaff check and the boot remote release, I am not currently sure what I am getting for the extra £540.

I should probably get back in touch with Carl.

I think Carl's price includes a fair proportion of built in 'risk' as I believe he does a full electics check and deals with [small] issues this reveals. I suspect if there were a large fault(s), then Carl would discuss matters. Given Carl's extensive experience with these matters, I suspect that his pricing is pretty spot on to both deal with issues and still make his business viable. Plus, I think he also removes 'bodges' as he goes.

I suspect that Abacus would still do the same checks but then price each repair out individually. Great if the only fault is the alarm. BAd if there are twenty other faults.

Not had direct experience of either and I assume you know your car so you'll have to make a judgement call.

If you do use Abacus then post up a review. I've not seen their name mentioned before and having another competent service provider isn't going to do our niche any harm.
