I agree with Phil
Please stop doing that - it scares me! hehe

Who gives a stuff about top speed?
It's how it gets to 120 or so that matters, how it handles doing it, and how awesome it sounds on the way.
...and how much you can make your passengers squeak! biggrin

And the engine - I thought it was a Cosworth V8, not some American crate job? Or have I missed something?

GTEYE says Lets hope this doesn't turn into another De Lorean fiasco......governments investing in car companies seldom end well.
I really hope it works out.
Has the UK government actually invested in this though?

There's been a few incentives / breaks for them building in Wales but as far as I am aware there's no taxpayers money going into it directly...

I am trying sooooooooo hard to be offended by that comment but I just can't!

When my Godson was being Christened the bloke in the dodgy frock said something about being responsible for the moral upbringing of the child and there honestly was laughter from somewhere behind me...

...and my "Bacon is fruit" proof that he let on gets trotted out by his family as a prime example of my misguidance! hehe

I thought it was a Ford Coyote V8 "re-engineered" by Cosworth ...
Then I have missed something..... wobble
Blimey thought all TVR owners kept up with events, must just be me then...

Still not quite sure whether you actually have a point / question or whether you're just enjoying kicking a hornets nest but as far as I am aware (given that I'm not privvy to LE's financial plans) the factory itself gets tax breaks however I am not aware that the new TVR company is getting actual *INVESTMENT* from the Welsh local authorities or the British government.

Just being honest cant help what's history

The good news from TVR continues! The latest announcement is on a production facility; no, it won't be in Blackpool, but instead in the Ebbw Vale Enterprise Zone in South Wales. Moreover, the Welsh Government will invest in TVR. The official line is that the project "represents over £30 million of capital expenditure over the next five years."
The factory deal was signed last week, with a specific location in South Wales to be decided on soon. The Welsh First Minister, Rt. Hon. Carwyn Jones, said of the arrangement: "This is yet another fantastic high profile investment for Wales and a great boost for our automotive sector." It remains to be seen whether a 'Made in Wales' plaque will make it to the production cars...

Les Edgar added: "We have a sports car project that has garnered global approval and excitement, and we are delighted that the Welsh government wish to become a part of an exciting new era for TVR." The news follows Aston Martin's announcement recently of a factory in the same area, so it's an exciting time for both the area and British sports cars.

Already more than 350 deposits have been taken for the new TVR, which still has a 2017 launch date scheduled. We'll bring you more as soon we have it!

Maybe there is actual physical investment rather than it just being tax breaks ... in which case, cool!

(However that can also be read - as I read it - as an investment being made by a company in building it's business in Wales rather than by Wales investing in a company.)

Yet again though I still can't work out what the actual point / question is that you are trying to get across...*

(* If anyone else has any insights into this beyond simple trolling - I am trying to be nice here and attempt to answer - then please feel free to clarify.)

Still not sure I'm following this thread wobble

What do I want from the new TVR, well, speed is pretty low down the list.
Before speed is noise.
Then comes handling, acceleration and noise.
After that it comes down to a lot of power demonstrating itself in the form of acceleration and noise reaching the road surface through grip and good handling.
Did I mention noise.

Given that it is penciled in at around £70,000 (from what I remember) then it's hardly a high end hypercar and I doubt that anyone is realistically expecting it to tickle the tonsils of 200mph so all the desktop Senna's whose first question is "How fast does it go?" when they see a car can wander off and flagellate themselves into a creamy fury over some other piece of eyecandy.

TVR's were reaching 170/180mhp a decade and a half ago. Is it really out of the question that a new one costing more would not have a higher top speed?

Top speed is not all that important in the real world, but I would 'realistically expect' a new TVR that has been talked up by the owner of being able to mash the competition to do 200mhp at the very least!

No mention of Audi though.....
