Pleasantly surprised that a driver in London would leave a note with a phone number apologising for driving into me thumbup
So now need to find a good body shop in the Essex/Cambs/Suffolk borders. I know of Hilton and Moss, but would appreciate recommendations for alternatives please.
I have used Racing Green in the past and as they're on the line into Waterloo would consider them but only worth it if they are still well thought of.
Thanks.

Try Eric Poole &Sons in Ipswich. Google search will find their number. They do all the work for Kerridges and resprayed my old Tamora front end a while back.

I'd avoid the one you mentioned like the plague, I had an accident in 2013 that they repaired. GRP was OK, paint (full respray) - lets just say an insurance company wouldn't splash out an additional 10k for no reason, sending the car to another bodyshop (S&D) to be completely stripped and resprayed as the quality of the other job was so bad. Happy to chat further offline and send you examples of the work if you want

Yes there are some good people, I had my Griffith hit when I was in a shop; a lady came in to the store, looked around and figured I was the owner (do we stand out in a crowd that much?). She could have easily just left, but she made a point of finding me and waiting for the police.

Good luck with the repair - it worked out very well for me - just don't let the insurance company push you to take lower standards than you and the car deserve!

I really need a good honest opinion as it only looks like a scuff/rub which may polish away. It will need the paint shield replacing on the wing though which will add to the cost. The lady wants to try and avoid insurance, which as long as the repair is acceptable I'm happy to go along with, however I know that at least one of the places I've already mentioned will recommend a full front end re spray. When I asked them for a quote for some light damage to the service bonnet and grill they tried to convince me the radiator needed replacing as well!

Gary message sent.

Zippee I followed your thread re the poor work, amazed that such a high profile place would do that. Even more amazed you had to justify on here that it wasn't up to the standard you expected!

Perhaps a picture of the scuff would be helpful.
Unless its a serious respray or some exotic paint, any decent body shop ought to be able to sort it really - there's nothing TVR specific about it.

Agreed, however if you see some of the e-mails people have kindly sent showing what the 'experienced' places have done it makes you wonder. I guess the trick is to find a place experienced in fibreglass.
Piccie to follow.

If you don't mind a trip to Milton Keynes then give Rick a call at autotech prestige. He's the bodyshop manager there and I've seen his work which is first rate - does a few TVRs smile

As far as I'm aware they use one of the aforementioned places for their work.

I really would try some G3 cutting compound on that first....Unless you want the faff of going to a bodyshop.

I got a smallish scratch on my door in a car park a year or two ago. Some 1200 grit wet/dry, used wet, and several applications with G3 got it back to new. All IMHO, of course.
