VERY encouraging article in this month's Sprint on the new TVR Written by a Typhon owner who was asked to bring his car along for the new team to have a look at. No new specifics but his overall impression of the operation is optimistic to say the least
My copy of sprint arrived in Cyprus on Wednesday but not had time to read it yet can't wait.Moycie said:

Donkey Apple? It was thanks to V8GRF who had been asked by TVR if he could source a Typhon for them and GMD to look over and saw fit to ask me if I'd like to help. It was a very interesting day. I'd very briefly met GM back in the early 90s at a McLaren event but never actually had a conversation. I guess I didn't really know what to expect as I arrived at his office but I guess I just thought a couple of TVR people would have a look at the car and that would be it but once the car was taken into one of their garages about a dozen engineers and designers all descended on it. It was really at that point that I realised just how serious this venture is. They have a lot of people working on all aspects down to the finest details and I think while they were totally confident that they could build a car they were investing maximum effort to ensure that car was a true TVR. LE's enthusiasm was also infectious and it is very clear that he understands exactly what a TVR is and that while you cannot build those cars anymore and have to build something for the 21st century it has to carry the DNA.
I still think that it is a mammoth task and that Brexit has probably made it harder still but it was clear to me that they were not fannying about.

Hi Aaron. Glad it was firstly, readable and secondly, of interest.

Yes, it was interesting to read, thanks for sharing thoughts and experience of the day. I can imagine it must have been quite a surprise with all the people swarming over your Typhon. It's encouraging to hear, as I'm sure so much has been developed but we just haven't seen any of it yet! Certainly, the times I have spoken to LE, he really does have great enthusiasm for TVR and what it stands for. Looking forward to seeing what they have created!

This. Whilst I'm not a deposit holder and not in a position to be (and I understand that its very easy to pass comment without concern in my position), I've got a real love affair with the brand and have been following the new venture with baited breath.
LE is making all the right noises. Whilst I understand the concern with deadlines, limited information etc and can appreciate the worry it would cause for deposit holders, LE is eminently quotable and seems to have petrol in his veins. Most importantly he seems to understand exactly what the philosophy and DNA of TVR is and to be just as infected by it as any of us. Certainly seems like the right man to me.
I'm following this thread with a great deal of interest
I sadly left the TVR fold a few years back when there was nothing to move onto after parting ways with my Sag. I've had some cracking motors since (see profile for pics) but most have either felt either too clinical or too expensive compared to my previous TVRs
Sadly I was foolish enough not to cough up the £2.5k deposit as a TVR car club member to get on the waiting list as I never thought the new car would actually happen
Does anyone one have any idea how many people are currently on the deposit / waiting list, and how many people may give up their places once prices & specs are announced?
Also, does it make sense to go for an early car or would it be best waiting a while until any potential production issues have been ironed out?
I have the dilemma of stumping my deposit up now and going to the back of the queue or trying to buy a build slot from someone who no-longer wants it and getting an earlier car
Cheers,

Potentially hang in there.. if it doesn't come in at the eluded 55k and comes in at say 75k, Id surmise that there will be quite a number of people looking to be bought out!I sadly left the TVR fold a few years back when there was nothing to move onto after parting ways with my Sag. Good grief, if the new road-going TVR looks anything like this then the new team will certainly have risen to the challenge of meeting the head turning designs of the Peter Wheeler era cars and raised the bar a notch! RichB said:

I agree if it's 75k a good number will decide to forfeit
I empathise that the deposit holders want a car for minimal outlay, but I'll be amazed if the launch edition is less than £85k! Surely it makes sense to prepare for the shock... If I'm honest, I'll be disappointed if its cheaper than that because I don't feel the product can be delivered (for less than ~£85K) without significant compromises having been made - but then I'm not a deposit holder so its easy for me to say this.

Exactly my thoughts (and i do hold a deposit). Sub 85k GBP is not very likely. Further delays are not unexpected, but i believe the guys will pull it off in the end. I am very confident that they will create an instant classic. I also want to add that the possible alternatives mentioned a few pages before absoluetly do not appeal to me. I do not want polished, compromise, gimmicks, electronically sound-engineered and LCD-screens. Am actually looking for something raw, beastly and balls to the wall-like and there aren´t many true alternatives in that segment. LE´s and GM´s comments "You´ll know you´re alive when you drive one!" and "We´ll bring back the muscle-car" set the bar.
As i am from Germany, my real concerns are more about homologation, emission-certification and compliance and street-admission as well as repairs/service. That is something that will not be entirely ironed out for the first few cars as i understand. I also hope that the Brexit-timeplan is not going to hit me on this one (great speech from your PM today, btw, Merkel would never be able to deliver something like that), but they surely must be aiming for the European market with all its regulations.
Looking very much forward to March.
