New TVR still under wraps!
Discussion
Still don't understand why 'they haven't got a factory yet' keeps coming up as a concern.
Does anyone seriously think Les Edgar and team are going to meet up at Gordon's water cooler and collectively slap their foreheads and say 'Oops, forgot the factory!'? No-one who enters into this kind of agreement with the professionals they've put in place doesn't have a plan. They have either got a factory in development that they haven't made public or they don't need one at this stage i.e. Murray will make the initial batch. It not unusual to have the design company make the cars, a lot of the Italian design houses make small production runs.
Have some faith. Its just possible that new TVR will succeed...

It's all positive so far. Here's a picture without the silver cover, from twitter.
I can't wait to see it in the flesh. Evolution of T350/T440/Typhon as I hoped.
Just thought I'd bump this... to me it's completely DB9/Vantage back half and F Type/Corvette front half... has this changed at all or is something similar still expected? I really, really hope not I can't wait to see it in the flesh. Evolution of T350/T440/Typhon as I hoped.

Bigger than a T350 and smaller than a Vantage, Mr Edgar indicated at the London show. I'm also pretty sure based on a few things I've heard that the initial cars are going to be built at Gordon's for obvious reasons, which is reassuring. The reveal for me needs to be demonstrable, a car, interior, working engine and no expectation of an order unti we see it running. It's too much of a wedge of cash for me without that. Is a test drive at a later date before purchase a reasonable thing to expect?
I think the black model without the cover, although offering more detail, is difficult to gauge because it lacks reflection due to color and material and is a bit misleading. These two shots really do it for me and i neither see Corvette nor Aston Martin. It is actually pretty unique and i hope they don't move too far away from that. I have high hopes for the rear as it is the weak point in most cars, especially the C7, but looks very promising here.
Sorry bullitt I still see Aston at the back.. we know LE's involvement with the marque too... here's an earlier quote..
"I’m a big Aston Martin fan, and I’ve had mine modified to make them a bit more loud, hairy and lairy. I felt I understood what I wanted from a sports car, and it is less expensive and luxurious than an Aston Martin, but more luxurious than a Lotus. A TVR fits that bill perfectly. It’s a sporting GT rather than a GT with ‘sporty’ added to it. It’s a rebellious marque, the antithesis of James Bond. And since the factory’s demise in the early 2000s, nothing has filled that space."

The devil is in the details But you may have a point, luckily the Aston backs are not the ugliest. But if you look at this:
they obviously have moved a bit away from that:
It's also a bit more curvy and tailed as can be seen here (i like that very much) :
All in all i think there are enough points to really make it unique but dammit, i guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I think whats under the cover looks a lot like the car on the picture wall behind. the lines seem to correlate and that then leads me to think of the artist impression that had been sketched (even on the TVRCC mags with the 'roaring back' phrase) So I think we have had glimpses of the car to come... IMO

Yes, i agree, that was what i was trying to point out. It's a bit tricky to detect since one is a straight side-shot and the tape-sketch one is full frontal. You cannot really detect the bulges and curves as both are very 2D, especially in the rendering. But they seem to be showing the same car and it pretty much fits the battersea covered model. It's just the back where i believe they changed the model to being more bulky and massive than in the rendering, which is a change that i welcome.bullittmcqueen said:

Too right mate. It seems strange that TVR would then 'officially' place those impressions if they were too wide of the mark or not as intended???Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
