any other views from deposit holders... now its released any change of hearts ?

Honestly I'm torn. The front end (headlights) at the reveal was not right for me and this hasn't been addressed. Based on lots of comments here it seems to be a general consensus.

I'm just not sure this would be something i can live with. It needs a change at the front to get rid of that ginetta look.
No it's not perfect from every angle, very few cars are. Overall I like it, some details I love, the wheels I am not keen on and I don't really like red card so a different colour with different wheels will make the car very different. If it goes as well as they say, with 0-100mph under 7 seconds then it will be an awesome car to own and drive.

Such a difference. Can I trouble you for a nice burnt orange version

Saw it in the flesh today and it's so much better than 2d photos. Lots of people looking at it. Heard one guy make a deposit. I was told that of the 500 LE cars, very few if any left available and they are close to starting a reserve list. Yesterday a certain Mr Murray placed his deposit. No jumping the queue eh Gordon lol

Also learned there is likely to be a choice of 3 or 4 colours. I love the orange they have on the section of car showing the frame and door surround. The alloy on the show car also available as silver or all black without the diamond cut and all black it looked a nice wheel.

4 colours? I think I'll be out at that.
FFG
That's 3-4 option colours within the list price. Guy I spoke to said of course you could have any colour you wanted but there would be an extra charge for it and it would also not be a LE standard car.

Probably hehe Can't help what popped in my head though from a straight front on view.
Lol. 2 vertical bars in the grill would improve the front maybe? Or TVR letter on the black grill? I would like a cheese grater grill as shown on the graphic they released last year at the London motor show.

Photo from Oliver Edwards, this is the deposit holders reveal mule in a 'Motorsport livery'. I think the people behind show the scale and the lighter colour shows off the shape. I could imagine this in GT3.

Rob
Lighter colour & different wheels totally change the look of the car don't they.

I have a deposit on the new TVR and having owned 7 in the past I was rather excited to see the new TVR. I have kept an open mind but really feel a bit deflated by the look of the car. I like the engine, spec etc just can't get to grips with the design. I think I will be asking for my deposit back, I was considering keeping hold of it and possibly see if I could get a premium for my slot but really can't see that happening as its hardly going to be a small run of launch editions.
Did you see the car at Goodwood or are you basing your decision purely on the photos? I think the colour makes a huge difference to the look of the car. Why not wait until the car is driven by the motoring journalists and see what they think before asking for your deposit back? You can get it back now sure enough but if you then change your mind and want back in then you won't be able to as your slot will be sold to someone else.

This level of attention to detail is remarkable on a small production run car. It's never going to be all things to all men but the level of bile spewed at the car on this thread is surprising for me. I suspect it betrays a fairly fundamental lack of understanding on behalf of some posters on both modern manufacturing techniques, automotive design requirements and a good dose of good old fashioned rose tinted glasses.

I'm in no position to buy a car like this but if you had told me that the new TVR would be 500bhp, under a 1.3 tons, Gordon Murray designed and around 90k I would have assumed most PHers would be on board.

There seem to be a few here who just want a re-released cerbera/sagaris/tuscan/wedge/insert your car here and that to be the end of it.

This car has to have some mass market appeal and I think the designers have done a great job. Proof of the pudding is in the eating of course and we will see how it drives but having studied the cutaway and chassis pics closely I suspect it will do the trick. They've done a stupendous job releasing this car for 90k frankly.

Best of luck to all the TVR crew; I'm sure they're reading this thread so just wanted to inject some positivity in here, and I'm sure this car will be a great success for them!
Bloody well said Sir. Far too much negativity and general whining on here. The car is a TVR of today, not a decade ago..

Ok back for another attempt. I guess designing a cars overall shape isn't as easy as people think wink

No no no..

Can you do one with the cheese grater type grill as on a 2000 Tuscan and as shown in their vinyl montage at the London motor show last year.

Ah sorry, I was expecting the slim, convex, cheese-grater grill encompassing almost the entire width of the vehicle like the Tuscan mk1

That's really just an insert but yes it can clearly be done in that style.
That would be nice but not possible with the front spoiler etc of the new car. The grill insert in that style would look good though I think and it's a nod to the look of the 2000 Tuscan.

I think that that looks better but you've lost two thirds of the air intake
Big improvement. Colour coded to the main body colour would be even better lol.

Hopefully TVR will have 2 or 3 grill options. Take note Les et al

There you go. I don't think they'd put the number plate there, it's more likely to be lower down I would have thought.

Personally I think the car looks amazing already, this was just a bit of fun.
Perfect, I'll order mine with that grill then lol. That nice blue/grey colour on the leaflet. Or the orange.

The grill improves it (on that particular picture).

For me the Griffith is far easier on the eye from the 3/4 and rear than a portafino.

The fact we're making comparisons with a Ferrari (at twice the price) is interesting.

I wonder what the TVR will be group tested against in the press?
Group test should be 911 Carrera S & Jaguar F type R which must surely be direct competition.

It's tricky since even when considering price, the cars mentioned are 90k base spec (991s) whereas the launch edition Griffith includes options.

It's a tricky one, since the 911 (and f type) are surely aimed at a different type of buyer? I see this as a second car (that could be used every day, like a mclaren).
Surely the group test will be against cars that buyers could be tempted away from? A 911 Carrera buyer for example might think about getting the new TVR instead just to be different. TVR has said the new Griffith is designed to be used as a daily car as well as a weekend/track car. Maybe Audi R8 & Aston Martin would be a better comparison?

What ever the media put it up against I hope it kicks arse!

Made me think of the 612+SLS from this angle with the lights and grill.

Yep I saw SLS in it when the model was revealed back in March. Especially so in silver. To me that's no bad thing as I think the SLS is a great looking car. Many have said also some overtones with the F type Jag which again is no bad thing given how lovely looking they are as well.

I think the car looks great in the right colour, with the right alloys and a nice grill. Top job TVR.
