I am sure there are others ..

Nissan GTR springs to mind and the lower priced McLarens and Lambo's..
GTR yes, but you can't get a McLaren under 100 grand.

Still not convinced it will sell in sufficient numbers if it's anywhere near £100k.
Don't loose sight that Cosworth are only mapping the car with different exhaust and possibilly intakes. The crate engine is less than £10k.......there's only so much you can ask for it IMHO.

If it's as good as I've been told, it'll fly out of the shop.

And all of the (so many here) doubters will have to eat their words.

Don't get me wrong, I want it to do well. I have a deposit but am not prepared to part with £100k for a second toy car. If it's in the original proffered price bracket then yes I'll have one. Time will tell when the reveal and price announcement is made.

Edited to add the price proffered by Les a year ago was £55-85k call it £70k +/- £15k a fair margin to work within with near zero inflation since.

TVR?
Well, they're both British two seat sports cars with 4 wheels, which is where the similarity ends.

One is a picture a British two seater sports car, one is a picture of an image of what a two seater British sports car is expected to look like.

Just saying..

I thought the link was because neither were available to buy?

Mind you, if the new TVR is a steaming pile of farcical pooh like the thing above then it too won't last long.

Also, the rendered TVR has impossibly low height windows, which make it look amazing in, er, renderings, but aren't possible in the real world.

I'm quite happy with my steaming pile of pooh thank you. At least it exists and brings a smile to my face when I drive it, despite its farcical flaws.

Does anyone know that the new tvr is actually going to look anything like the (Autocar?) sketch of the green car that keeps appearing whenever tvr is mentioned? I fail to understand why the same picture keeps being bandied about for people to comment on if it has nothing to do with the actual car tvr are going to release. Unless I missed something the only shape tvr have released is the mock up under the cover at the recent motor show and the black and white youtube film. Apart from stirring people up and/or relieving boredom (amusing as that is) I see no point in comparing this guesstimate picture to the actual unreleased car.

Under wraps the styrofoam job does look similar. I don't think they would bother getting a random car profile done when its easier to use the current cad files of the real thing.

Ah ok so they've taken the shape from the mock up? I guess that explains why it keeps cropping up.

You probably didn't pay close to 100k for the G40 though...

Correct me if I am wrong but these two were released by TVR themselves were they not?

The bottom is another auto car rendering.

That's what I thought initially but Autocar themselves say it's from TVR.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87AS78YVm-0. That side image was dispalyed at the London car show and used by Autocar, together with the graphic of the front, to create their renderings. See http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motor-shows-lond...

Fortunately not! The G40 is not really a valid comparison to TVR anyway. It's a track car you happen to be able to drive on the road. I expect the TVR is supposed to be the other way around. I'll leave it at that, since your discussion is about the TVR, not the G40.

I'm sorry but there is no way anyone could suggest that the green 'cad rendered' car could be hiding under the sheet on the Tvr stand. Ok so I left my glasses at work and had a glass of New Zealand's finest Marlborough but even so that is not what's under there.

A Jag lookalike with a cheap Ford V8 and 100 grand, do they really think they will sell any.

Errr yes. The F type is a gorgeous looking car so if it looks similar but more mad with Aero pack, side exit exhaust etc that's surely a good thing. As for cheap Ford V8, the heritage and history of Ford Cosworth in motor sport makes an engine as good as any Mercedes, Aston or Porsche in my book.

Will TVR sell any? Of course they will. There is a gap in the market for people like me who want something rare and different to a mass produced 911 which doesn't get a turn of a head any more as they are so common.
