Errr yes. The F type is a gorgeous looking car so if it looks similar but more mad with Aero pack, side exit exhaust etc that's surely a good thing. As for cheap Ford V8, the heritage and history of Ford Cosworth in motor sport makes an engine as good as any Mercedes, Aston or Porsche in my book.

Will TVR sell any? Of course they will. There is a gap in the market for people like me who want something rare and different to a mass produced 911 which doesn't get a turn of a head any more as they are so common.
I thought he was talking about Astons with their Jag looks, Ford engines and £100k tag. But then I realised that Aston were about to start using engines from the world's greatest minicab, van and truck manufacturer.

I thought it was the cheapo version out of a mustang, 50/60 grand maybe but I can't see anyone spending 100 grand on one or any Tvr. Though good luck to em.

I am inclined to agree with you, but it does have a chance with the GM design and the cosworth badge. If Noble have survived with making a claimed supercar (M600) with a £200,000 price tag from a Light Industrial estate in Leicester, then surely TVR have a chance with these world beating names in design and engine management on board.

My apologies: I was trying to make sense of what you were saying. But If you insist:

"I can't see anyone spending 100 grand on one or any Tvr."

You could help by making some sense of "100 grand on one or any"

Ta.

Also, the rendered TVR has impossibly low height windows, which make it look amazing in, er, renderings, but aren't possible in the real world.
Have you looked at a Cerbera lately? wink (Or a Mk1 Audi TT for that matter, or a number of other cars I could name).

If anything, the rendering looks a bit high relative to its length, compared to whatever was under the cover on that Motorshow stand...

Yup. Little did I realise from the point of deposit it would take ten years to get the car. And current deposit holders are whinging about not getting updates. biggrin

There will be buyers for the new TVR. The core debate is really centred around whether there will be enough but it certainly strikes me as a very cheap way to get a Gordon Murray designed sports car with a Cosworth fettled big NA V8 that's built in Blighty. If they can actually build a competent road car (and it's all being done by GMD who have done it before) then it really just boils down to whether they get the looks right to grab those headlines and imaginations. Arguably, they just have one shot regardless of how brilliant it is under the skin. And I suspect it is the signing off on the final shape that is giving TVR the most sleepless nights and probably why there has been no formal reveal as of yet.

I agree the way it looks will be the deciding factor, one thing you can say about PW is he had a good eye for how a car should look.

Still I can't see many past TVR owners forking out 100 grand on a new TVR and it's going to have to be one hell of a car to get people out of Porsches etc

True about PW but he did have the benefit of not caring about aero at all or any of the things that logically compromise design today.

I think they'll find buyers among past owners but as discussed in other threads I think everyone if of the core consensus that to survive the car has to appeal to a far, far wider audience, let's call them the 'normal majority' smile

And yes, it will have to be a very good car to get many people out of old man life, mobile support transports and the brand image going forward will play a big role as well as hoping there are a few over 55s left who don't have haemorrhoids, enfeebled limbs or the absolutely desperate need to just buy exactly the same car as every other over 55 who has finally reached their career peak and needs a tool to announce their success to strangers and golf competitors. wink

In reality it just can't be better than a 911 in logical metrics or any of the other similar cars which have the weight of a multinational behind them but then there is a chance that not having to design a car that will satisfactory 20,000 different people every single year can mean the product can be more tailored than generic.

But they will have to drag people away from the beloved generic sports cars and as you say that is a huge ask in a world dominated by BIK, APRs or whether your ICE has 400 speakers and the car will wake you up or do everything for you.

It's a big ask but I'd like to hope that they can achieve it where almost all others have failed.

Anyone know where I can get a 'my other car is a TVR' sticker to put in the back of my Aston? (which I pick up this week biggrin )

Oh, hang on, sorry guys, I'm on the wrong thread whistle

If my wife knew that Aston built a car which had two genuine rear seats then I would be being forced to bring my plans for old age forward a few years. biggrin

I keep looking at Rapides and thinking it's the only 2+2 that I'd migrate to.
