Hi Chaps,

I feel like I should clear up the situation, as there seems to be quite a bit of speculation abound.
Austec has indeed folded. It is not being reopened or performing a "Phoenix". The new business on the site is not directed at the general public and is nothing to do with the sports/performance market.

Obviously, there is a reasonable amount of mess that has been created by the dissolution and I am trying my best to return what I can to the relevant people and make the process as least painful as possible. I appreciate that there are a number of people that are left very unhappy and I fully empathise with their position, but I would not assume that the responsibility lies solely at Paul's feet. Yes, he has made mistakes and not necessarily dealt with certain matters in the best way, but the bigger picture of Austec's operations for the last few years have been run by others.

On a personal note to Bodmin, I am the person that spoke to you. You did not "pop in" to Austec, you half slunk in the gate and started 'secretively' taking photos of the site. Upon seeing you from upstairs, I sprinted down to you, due to the fact that you genuinely looked like you were going to steal something. To my appearance out of the building, you reversed back out of the gate in an effort to get away from me. Then when I approached you, you acted very sheepish and suspicious. Honestly speaking, I did report your number plate to the police, as you were so suspect in your entire actions, mannerisms and lack of being forthcoming. Obviously, I will rescind my notification to the police, but if anyone has any questions, queries or concerns regarding anything to do with Austec or the new business on site, you can either PM me on here or feel free to come in and speak to me in person.

Regards

Andy

All the above may be true but given Austecs past performance with various individuals, me being one, he can be excused for doing a little detective work imho.

I think you're somewhat dramatising this into more than it is.
Personally, I feel that "detective work" is a little premature, when all that was needed was to ask? There are no guard dogs, armed security, 'cloak and dagger' cold war antics going on. And to suddenly try to vacate when approached, left everyone feeling uneasy.
Anyway, I don't want to start an argument and was simply pointing out that there is an appropriate way to go about these things. I am quite happy to answer anything I can.

Andy, can I take you up on your offer then, as a former Austec customer? Who are you, what is your relationship to Paul and Austen, and the new company? Thanks

I take it from the reception window upstairs that you did not see me try to drive in three times and have to reverse back out three times onto the road, first for the Range Rover, then another car and then the Ferrari! I had taken the photo I wanted of the Cerbera's and was reversing out when you approached me and not because you approached me.

Feel free to give my car reg to the Police, and my name is on my profile, and they will be able to check that I am a listed creditor with the Official Receiver hence my interest in this matter.

Thankyou for coming on this forum and confirming that Austec have officially ceased trading in its current form. You may not be aware that Austec since 2006 have done a 'phoenix' three times, obviously something Mr Austin forgot to mention, leaving individuals and companies out of pocket in excess of £1 million pounds.

As you are representing yourself in an official capacity can you explain, if Austec is closed, why there are still two active companies; Austec Fleet Services Ltd and RemappingUK.com listed at the same address and will these be closed down? And you wonder why there is speculation confused

A good start would be to remove the Austec Racing signage.

P.S If you see Paul, ask him how his pony tail is wink

In short, paid for a detailing professional to come and look at it as I'd sent it back once. The quality is generally good. It's the attention to detail and finish that's the problem, at least as far as my standards go. Flat spots, holograms etc.

None should be there following a nose-to-tail respray.

I had a cheap respray at a dodgy place based on a farm, (£500 as a favour) and they stated that they sprayed cars for Austecs!

To be fair the quality of Austec's body shop was pretty good, but they shut that when they moved premisies.

I fell out with Paul after spending £000's with him and then to be given a quote of nearly £10k for an engine re-build and engine bay clean-up whilst the engine was out....... he didn't even come and talk to me about it, just let the secretary give me the quote........ got engine done for less then half that with Dom at Power.

This sounds like a version of the "big boys done it and ran away" excuse that you get from kids. The awful, couldn't give a toss now you've paid service, that I got was in 2004, the business wasn't "run by others" then.

Apologies for the delay in responding. I rarely get on the internet.

Number 7 - I am nobody really. I was an employee of Austec. I left a couple of years ago to do other things, then rejoined the company at the start of this year (somewhat poor timing). I have no relation to Paul, other than as an employee. When this new business was started, I was offered the opportunity of working for them and took it.

Bodders - I did not mean to reference the police as any form of threat and apologise if that is how it came across. I was merely trying to demonstrate how your demeanour appeared. If we have a different opinion on what the proper conduct for the situation should have been, that is fine. I am not a keyboard warrior and, as I said, I am not looking to start any arguments with people.

The other companies registered at this address are completely unrelated to what is now the former Austec operation. There are various people involved here and they are involved in various other businesses. I am aware of the history of Austec and wholeheartedly understand certain people's feelings and resignations. In no way can I undo or reimburse for previous goings on, but am simply trying to alleviate the speculation.

Having said that, at no point have I stated, or even suggested, that I am in any way representing myself in any official capacity. As said above, and now reiterated for the purposes of clarity, I am a nobody; nothing other than an employee. But as I am privy to more information than most, felt it prudent to enlighten where possible.

As for the signage, all signage was removed at the point of closure, excepting for that around the high canopy. I was due to remove that as well, but to be perfectly honest, I didn't have the spuds to climb up that height on a ladder and wrestle with large, wind-catching boards. However, it is due to come down.

As for your last comment, I am aware of the reference, but I am certainly not here to participate in any sort of rendition. Again, I understand the emotions that are running behind all of this, but I am simply trying to facilitate people's knowledge of the situation.

If anyone has anything further to ask, please do. But, please understand that I do not sit on the internet every night, so an immediate response is unlikely.

Andy your description of what goes on makes this place overdue a visit from one of those rogue trader programs. Glad to hear that someone joins a company and despite it become insolvent and ceasing trading still finds reason to turn up every day and do odd jobs despite all the other businesses being unrelated and completely separate.

Thanks for the info. Good sprayers are hard to find. Hope you managed to get it sorted in the end.

Hi
Your find Paul Austin had a company in dorking called motivation Motorsport then went LTD! After ripping everyone off for years he started austec racing LTD, we then moved to Crawley to run from problems and after a year and false promises I left, I personally was mugged off for 7 years maybe and I know what he owes to old friends and garages still!!
I could sit here all week informing you all off what a crook that man is!! And I laughed at the pony tail story as I know that 👍🏻👍🏻 I'd buy you a beer if I knew you..
All the good staff left due to no wages. The painter is personally a friend and has a very sucsesful business painting great cars and was very good at our tvr's till he stopped being paid.
Another good Tvr man I knew was in haywards Heath I think it's rw engineering. Good guy!
I personally left the trade and have a business doing other stuff.
If he owes you money good luck as your never ever see it unfortunately.

Unfortunately also a bad experience with Austec - had a pre-purchase inspection done by them 2 yrs ago when acquiring my car as well as a rolling road performance test. Car came back with 'all thumbs up', however they missed leaking exhaust manifolds, a few oil leaks and a radiator that was practically dead, as well as near-dead shocks. Also they lost any recordings of the rolling road - best I got was a verbal 'it's about 300 hp'. Waste of my 200 pounds TBD - moved to Power and Taylor TVR immediately thereafter. Workshop at the time struck me as quite unorganized compared to others. To be fair, previous owner was very happy with Austec and multiple positive comments on this forum encouraged me to have the pre-purchase inspection done there.

Just found this thread and about to pass on the sad news to a friend, who's car was ''lost'' by Austec after taking over £20 000 for its restoration.
