I need my front speakers replacing; had them upgraded in 2004 at a place recommended by Castle TVR but from then on always had a problem with the grilles popping out presumably due to door flex, and eventually one speaker broke completely.

I live relatively near Austec whom I've used in the past for servicing before their troubles, so was going to ask them for a recommendation but I've just found out that they imploded.

Using PH search, I found a recommendation for someone called Carl but it seems he moved to SW France. A more specific search resulted in "We found 0 results for your search "tvr audio kent surrey""

So, any recommendations would be much appreciated.. want to sort the speakers before doing a full respray rather than after. Thanks!

Carl does live in France but returns occasionally to do a week or so's work. Ive read that he is currently back for 10 days and taking bookings via TVR101.

Thanks! Having trouble contacting him so far, will keep trying. I did hope for a simple solution of just swapping out the front speakers for new ones of same make, but it's not going to be that simple, their speakers are now 2 ohm rather than 4 ohm and having removed the broken one can now see that the fitter has shaved away much of the plastic bracket to make it fit and cracked it in the process, which probably contributed to the grille popping out repeatedly. Grr. Infinity tech support had no idea why they changed their speaker impedances. Small chance it can be repaired by their outsourced service centre, awaiting a call back.

Presume you've tried calling TVR 101 directly?

Yep, they gave me his number. Anyway short story is, I spoke to him today and what a helpful and knowledgeable guy he is! Short story is, given the existing audio setup and how little I actually use the stereo these days he recommended some 4 ohm speakers that should be easy to install myself. So I'll try that, and if any issues or if they don't play well with the rear Kappas, or if I have any further bother with the alarm system (it has been behaving recently but wasn't for a while) I can get booked in for his next visit. Was on the phone with him for quite a while and feel bad now about taking up his time, given the hours he works while over here.

Still, great recommendation and have a feeling I'll be using his services in the future. Also found out that he also does a stint in Kent at Taylor TVR, that's nearer to me than Farnham.

Thanks, do you have recommendations on PH and are you mobile or a bricks & mortar setup? It's always good to have options.
