Mine will be off the road from the beginning of August having a body off/chassis refurb and general all round tart up. This is being done in advance of expected age related issues and before it becomes a pile of rusty steel tubes with a etc etc... Although my annual mileage isn't high (I work away a lot) the old girl gets driven all year round in all weathers and often at varying degrees of sidewaysness due to the back being significantly faster than the front if I so much as breathe heavily on the throttle. Which I obviously don't do as this would involve becoming inverted in the drivers side footwell. I also leave her under the car port rather than sticking her back in the garage after each 100 mile round trip for the milk in order that she remains in a state of constant (hoon)readiness.

I am also considering some additional performance upgrades during the winter refurb programme. This has come about due to a recent and rather disappointing encounter with a McClaren something or other which insisted on trying to keep up with me and remained in my rear view mirror a tad longer than I would of liked. The sensible man behind the wheel recognised the futility of his actions early on though and promptly turned off into a Tesco's filling station smile

And why does the TVRCC think the cars should only be driven on the 14th August? I mean, what's wrong with December 26th... or the 29th February.. Oh, hang on...

Both of my Wedges will be out and driven on the 14th. The missus uses the 350i and I'll take the 390Se. Both of mine are driven 12 months of the year and with the amount of waxoyl on the chassis's a bit of rain won't harm them.

He probably needs them to keep up to speed having expanded. hehe

PS, loved your post, as always, Chilli. Gave me a good giggle at this hour of the morning and after encountering 3 of the 4 lanes of the southbound A1(M) closed so that the boys from the blackstuff could plane lane 1 furious
...... managed to advise Alex before he set off for work, as the closure is just south of his gaff.
