I know what you mean Mike, but according to the Histogram in LR they were pretty much bang on ?
Im no expert BTW.
I am very far from an expert myself! As I say it's personal taste so if you are happy then just leave well alone - there are a few crackers in there and they're certainly sharp Im no expert BTW.
Can't fault that one technically - focus, colour, exposure all spot on. Arty-wise, expression spot on, composition doesn't grab me but it's hard to see how it could be much better - maybe include legs, or crop tighter on face. But it's subjective.
Actually I've just my brightness up to fighting speed and I'd agree with DD the whites look over.

Cheers Simpo.
Nowt blown in LR histogram is my defence guv...
But point taken as I can see where you mean.
Still want a D500 tho....
I use the histogram a lot when shooting, even on my £60 compact. But when processing, whilst scientific aids can be very useful, to my mind the Mk 1 eyeball is the ultimate arbiter - if only because that's what everyone else will use to look at it. And I'm looking at your photograph, not your histogram in LR. Make sure your monitor is calibrated, not just for colour but also brightness and contrast.Nowt blown in LR histogram is my defence guv...

If you've clipped the whites in processing as opposed to taking, then just pull them back a bit and you'll be there.
Would agree with DD and Simpo on the over-exposed posted example there are 4 blown patches on the LH side, two on the body and two on the head, which you should be able to pull back in LR. I'mm unable to access Flickr currently as I have browser issues on this PC and my Laptop with Vista being unsupported so can't comment on the other images.

Yupp. Overexposed
Always interesting - one person's "overexposed" can often be another person's "spot on". But for preference I'd pull the highlights back and look for more detail there, and just before that I'd crop in a bit tighter with more impact of the striking tongue and whiskers....Just my £0/0/2.....
