NC500 driving trip
Discussion
For those of you interested in driving holidays, I'm writing up my experience of the NC500.
My good friend Joe is a bit of a driving holiday organising legend. Joe transports classic cars to events and provides mechanical assistance to classic car tours. 6months ago he saw an advert for the NC500 and decided he had to organise a trip for his mates.
Fast forward to today and we've just stayed overnight in Inverness and we're about to set off on the official route. Getting here was fairly boring until we decided to drive the old military road A939 heading north out of Perth. Evo did a feature on this road driving the Aston N430. Watch that video and then drive this road. We passed just 10 cars during the 3.5hrs or driving bliss!
Over night we stayed in the premiere Inn to the west of Inverness. This morning upon loading the bag into the Tuscan, I noticed the rear tyres looked a bit low. The compound must have gone off because just last week the MOT advised it was getting low. Either that, or yesterday was a very enthusiastic driving day. So to add a bit more expense to the trip, Im now sat in a tyre garage having some new boots fitted tomake sure the wet weather doesn't catch me out. I'm trying the Avon ZZ5s. There was not a lot of choice. I couldn't find any Toyos in Invernsess and the premium brands were £190+ per tyre. Lets hope they are good tyres and don't upset the balance of the car!

When leaving Perth you probably took the A93 (not the A939) through Glenshee to Braemar/Balmoral? Then you went up to Tomintoul on the A939 and over towards Inverness?
If you remember Clarkson driving the then new F type Jaguar for (the real) Top Gear, the A93 was where it was filmed. One of the best roads in Scotland I think.
Enjoy every minute of your trip, it will be fantastic.

Never got round to writing up a post of our trip, but here's a good summary and hopefully enough epic views and roads to tempt anyone with ml of petrol in their veins to get up to Scotland and enjoy the best driving route in the UK.
