It sounds like another open piped American V8 but it's great to see the muel up and running and Les having a play with it.
Hopefully this means things are (quite literally) moving and we will see a product soon.
Well yeah. Am I missing something. It sounds like.. Well a Ford Mustang. A lot like other tvrs which have had an American v8 chucked in them. Hopefully this means things are (quite literally) moving and we will see a product soon.
This sounds spectacular... Nothing like an American car, even though it's an engine from a supplier.

Of course it sounds like a cross plane crank v8. What were you expecting....it to miraculously sound like the Zonda AMG V12 or something???
Not sure What I was expecting Dave. Although I feel slightly dissapointed that it sounds like any other American v8, and for something which is going to be approaching 100k I'd be expecting it to sound special. Shame they couldn't have talked ford into supplying the voodoo as with the packaging they're going for tweaking the sound via the exhaust won't be easy.
The link to the zonda was tongue in cheek, as I'd seen comments on the other thread saying "amazing", "spectacular". Just adding perspective. A customer engine that sounds nothing like the Mercedes which Its derived from.
The voodoo with its flat crank would have been a nicer option, especially from an engineering standpoint.
Cross plane NA V8's benefit in both performance (better scavenging) and acoustics (mellower less harsh/crackly tone) from an exhaust crossover (x-pipe or H-pipe) between the cylinder banks. That's not possible with the side pipes arrangement being used here. A flat crank V8 doesn't get any benefit from having such a coupled exhaust system so would lend itself to this application.
I'm guessing ford wanted to hang into its crown jewel...for now at least
