Simple rocker cover question RV8
Discussion
Nothing on the O/S other than the rocker breather. Will need the plenum off on the N/S, so disconnect the breather hose. You can just lay the plenum in the bay still connected, but it's easy enough to disconnect the throttle cable at the plenum (remove split pin and linkage, and slacken the very large locknut and remove the other - this frees the cable. Just mark how far up the threaded section the locknut goes, as this will affect the pedal height (its how to adjust the height). Disconnect and plug (or re-route) the throttle heater pipes - preferably the latter but don't take the heater plate off as this will allow unmetered air in. Good opportunity to make sure the trumpets are all in place (not unknown for the odd one to fall over) and clean up the trumpet base and inside the plenum, including the throttle disc. Can also check the disc gap - there is a spec somewhere - as the adjuster is only accessible when the plenum is off. You'll need a 5/16" socket, preferably 3/8" drive, plus a short extension bar. I've always used cork gaskets, mainly because the casting is a little uneven on my rocker covers (the TVR cast versions)and the gaskets need a bit of trimming. A lot use rubber though.
