Hi everyone,

Does anyone know whether I can buy a replacement for the air intake nozzle holder plate (I am sure that's not the correct naming :-)) somewhere? On one side the plate is broken and I had to fixate the nozzles with tape to prevent them from touching ground while driving.

The plate can surely be reproduced fairly easy but if I can buy it somewhere off the shelf I would go for the easier route.

Cheerio, Leo

Sorry I can't help with where to find a replacement, but yours isn't the standard piece anyway.
It should be a sculptured piece made of fibreglass rather than a flat plate, and it's bolted in place using a bracket off the chassis.
I can't see the bracket on your car either, unless yours is an earlier car and didn't have what I describe.

It looks like what you have shouldn't be too difficult to fabricate a replacement, which would be my best bet.

As has been mentioned yours is home fabricated (Heath Robinson) and not an OE part. It does nothing barring holding the pipes up. The OE offers some form of air collection via its scoop. I'd look for a proper part via breakers. Not sure I'd bother cutting new plates would probably just use some large pipe clips and clamp to the under rail - same effect.

Photo - sorry, can't find full shot but someone will be along with one...

PS - some folks redirect the outside pipe for direct air flow onto the brake discs for cooling (obviously losing original aim of getting all the air into the cabin).

you can buy replacement air intakes from South West Lotus, they get from the factory, they are around £100 each..

or get some black ABS 90 degree waste pipe elbows and redirect into the middle and pick up the air in front of the radiator

Now that's interesting as my 3R one is completely open at the front collector (I think?).

My 3R has those semi-closed scoops.
I assume this is to reduce the forced air pressure ?

My 3R (2003) has the fully open ones.

So, as is the norm for hand build cars, some do and some don't. Looking at this I think a baffle would prevent small stones and debris entering the heater box so am thinking of maybe silconing a black grille piece over the fronts.

think its more to do with water than stones, you already have a mesh across the front clam to protect from stones.

Ive removed my ones of these and have storage box's in their place instead smile

I removed the baffle in mine, to increase airflow

What effect does removing the baffle make, more efficient airflow pressure when the fan is on ?
I might do that as 1 of the winter jobs
