I realise that the PH Cooking competition kind of died a death but would anyone be interested in doing a one off? I have set up a poll so people can vote on what they would like to cook/eat. If there are enough people interested we can pick the most voted meat, post some pictures and have a vote.

Its half-term so I've got a week to kill!

I'd go chicken. Could be seen as boring as hell but that's half the challenge.

We should have more of these why did they die off?

I would be very pleased to see the competitions return.

I'm not in the least bit bothered about the ingredients as long as it isn't vegeterian.

I think people, including me, lost interest. Then when the number of entrants dropped even more people dropped out.

I just thought lets try a one off and see what sort of response it gets.

The idea used to be that you came up with your own ideas based around a specific ingredient.

I voted for lamb as I don't have many recipes for that so it might push me to try something a bit different.

Surprised at the popularity of lamb. When I was working in hotels through Sixth form and Uni it was the one meat that hardly ever got ordered on the banqueting menu, as it's so unpopular compared to the others.

Occasionally you would get a bride or groom who loved it and put their foot down on ordering it. Invariably we'd get at least three to four times as many requests for the veggie option as we would for any other meat.

I quite like it myself, but for this sort of competition, I'd find it slightly disappointing if it won, as I've never had anything that beats a simple char-grilled nice and pink in the middle lamb chop.

I'm hoping beef nicks it, as I've got a nice beef heart turning up on Wednesday! cloud9

What is the general consensus, call it a day on voting for the meat on Thursday 27th Oct 1pm?

As we have not done this for a while why not give everyone a couple of weekends to present their food and post the voting poll on Monday 7th November?

Did you see Captainzep's Herb crusted rack of Lamb from one of the previous competitions? Sorry but that knocks a chop on its head.

I vote beef because I've already got a couple of lovely looking joints waiting to be cooked.
