Probably been asked a thousand times before but I'm a lazy bugger and the search facility is usually pants....

After new tyres, running 17" rims front and back, currently with 225/45/17 on the back and 205/40/17's on the front.
Plan on keeping the rears the same and changing the fronts to 215/40/17's but I'm having a problem finding a brand/model that do both sizes confused
Ideally I'm after something 'trackday' ish but this isn't essential, although wet weather grip is of little interest as the car only gets wet when it's washed. wink

That's what I am having next - lots of size choice, not too expensive.
If you are really never going anywhere near a track consider Uniroyal Rainsport 3s.
Fantastic wet grip, but also fantastic dry grip too.

Don't think I can play that card. driving

Like the look of the RSR's but couldn't find the 225 on my usual 'go to' tyre supplier, now I've found them in that size they could be a goer. rotate

Spot on. I will be going for those sizes myself, with a slight preference for 215/45 on the front

When it became difficult to get Z rated 225/50 x 16s, many started using 245/45 x 16s on the rear. They are fitted on mine, and several other Chimaera and Griffs. A lot of online references don't recommend any wider than 235 on a 7.5" rim however!

It would be more of a problem on a front wheel I expect, turning and cornering forces may break the bead of such a wide tyre maybe?! I stand to be corrected.

The reason a number get away with 245 rears is because they buy SP12 wheels, which are 7 or 7.5J 17 inch front (cannot remember which) and 8J 18 inch rears.
I bought mine off another TVR owner, and they came with 215/45 17 on the front and 235/40 18 on the rear, a nice combination.

I have TVR Estoril wheels on mine, and the Griff apparently had 245/45 x 16s as factory fit on the rear. At least according to old threads on here. TVR Parts sell them as such too:

http://tvr-parts.com/tvr-parts/part-details/tvr-g0...

Perhaps the Estoril is slightly wider than 7.5" ?

Mind you, the 225/50 x 16 is substantially cheaper!
