Steering Shaft which way up?
Discussion
Are the splines the same length on each end, can't see it making much difference.
Did you mark the shaft and each knuckle joint?
If not then when you put it back in after centreing the steering rack and wheel make some marks so if you then have to remove it again to fine tune it to centre the steering wheel you have some reference points to go by or you could be messing about for ages.
Be careful when tapping it into the lower knuckle that's connected to the rack, mine seemed very tight so used a hammer to tap it in and I think that caused the upper rack oil seal to go, I had to remove the rack and replace the oil seal
Someone more knowledgeable should be along to confirm shortly.
