Following the storms of late, where my Tamora's car covers were attempting to launch her into the upper atmosphere and were subsequently removed before they did more harm than good, I found myself watching the next day's weather report of rain, snow, plummeting temperatures and just general snot on the horizon. So, on with the covers tomorrow morning before it lands, I thought. So there I am next morning at dark-o'clock, sitting in bed, attempting to jump-start my consciousness with caffeine when I hear the sound of rain falling (well ahead of the weather report's schedule, I might add). So, chuntering about not putting covers on wet cars, I stepped out into the dark (and thankfully now rainless) outdoors and proceeded to wipe down my car with a chamois leather, making a racket of squeezing a tsunami of water every few wipes. It was at this point that it occured to me that anyone witnessing this that "didn't get cars" would think this a most bizarre behavior indeed and led to me wondering what other people do in the name of looking after/enjoying their cars that would seem like unhinged behaviour - or is it just me?! rotate

Was contemplating cleaning the wheels on the Chim tonight in the dark before a 120 mile cross-country dash tomorrow morning. Should I do that? rolleyes
Would need to pull it out of the garage first, then return it afterwards. Madness?

This one I can understand; I've had my Citroen C4 for a good four or five months now and I've no idea where the bonnet pull is... hehe

Washing it by hand seems odd to most my lazy neighbours.
Checking the oil level every day, opening the bonnet to often, starting and driving just for a thrill, oh yeah that's normal smile

Washing outriggers down, that one often has me questioning my sanity.
Washing the wheels seems pointless as they will be filthy when you get home anyway! smile

The behaviour is quite normal.

If you were looking for advice on protecting your cars paint, loose the cover and the chamois. Replace them with very good wax and microfibres towels....

Shame on you! Whatever happened to the 'weekly checks'?
Never mind, it's a Citroen, you'll have to open the bonnet eventually, more than likely on a cold dark wet hard-shoulder somewhen somewhere... winklaugh

Long story. The Griffith's in the garage at the mo. I'm looking at getting a four-poster lift to stack them and/or a garage extension to make a double-length space. Only, getting a builder to actually get back to you on a quote is like trying to plat fog.

Starting it up for no apparent reason and just sitting in it going nowhere.

Just because I can!

I think I bemuse my neighbours.......roll car out of garage, jack up front and rear, place on axle stands, remove and clean wheels, replace, lower and roll back into garage is a good one hehe

Washing car by hand using 2 buckets and a lot of cold water via hose and inline filter is another one that gets strange looks.

Grinning like a maniac when I start it, laughing as I blip the throttle and let it pop and bang at will also puts me in the "that weird bloke is at it with his car again". C'est la vie biggrin

I'm amazed it hasn't come to fruition already in the short time you've owned a C4. smile

Last year, when I was looking to buy a Chimaera or a Griffith I was rather taken by a Griff that was advertised and the owner also had a Tamora for sale the same colour as yours too.

Was it yours? I'd always assumed that someone had bought the Griff and that's why it was no longer advertised. I, as usual, dithered but eventually I got my Mk3 Chimaera.

Well, in actual fact I'd only had it a week before it dumped me at the side of the road when off on holiday! An amazing stroke of luck resulted in the AA man happening to be going in the opposite direction when he got the call to go to us. 4 minutes later and the fault had cleared and we were off again. You'd think I'd've learnt a lesson after having a Renault Scenic for over 8 years!

TR4man, quite possibly. I flirted with selling both as I couldn't decide which to keep but I ended up keeping both. They're so different but both so fantastic, but that's another thread. I wrote the Sprint article of buying the Tamora; I will follow it up sometime this year I think.

Laying underneath the back end of the Chim with a tube of metal cleaner and some strips of cleaning cloth and pulling them to and fro gets the neighbours curious. I,m only cleaning my tailpipes .smile

Wow, that's dedication Andrew, it looks immaculate underneath. I am assuming you drive it in all weathers so it must be an arduous task to keep it like that! bow
