Following the storms of late, where my Tamora's car covers were attempting to launch her into the upper atmosphere and were subsequently removed before they did more harm than good, I found myself watching the next day's weather report of rain, snow, plummeting temperatures and just general snot on the horizon. So, on with the covers tomorrow morning before it lands, I thought. So there I am next morning at dark-o'clock, sitting in bed, attempting to jump-start my consciousness with caffeine when I hear the sound of rain falling (well ahead of the weather report's schedule, I might add). So, chuntering about not putting covers on wet cars, I stepped out into the dark (and thankfully now rainless) outdoors and proceeded to wipe down my car with a chamois leather, making a racket of squeezing a tsunami of water every few wipes. It was at this point that it occured to me that anyone witnessing this that "didn't get cars" would think this a most bizarre behavior indeed and led to me wondering what other people do in the name of looking after/enjoying their cars that would seem like unhinged behaviour - or is it just me?! rotate

Well my experience of the average car driver came from working as a recovery truck driver and you quickly learnt just how stupid they really can be as I think at least 3/4 of all call outs were due to the drivers own stupidity. often this would cost them dearly as just doing the simple checks before a longer that usual trip would have shown the problem. Antoher common break down was just after having the vehicle serviced .................................... this was caused by garages employing monkies instead of proper mechanics. The amount of drivers aho have no clue as to how to open the bonnet or find the spare wheel or towing eye was just unbleievable.

Now as for believing the weather reports eek ??? are you stark raving crazy??? they seem to be so wildly inaccurate we gave up watching or listening to them years ago rolleyes.

But no I at least don't think your odd for trying to protect and maintain your car after all the British and especially the English has always had their eccentric behaviour ................................. Mad Dogs and Englishmen etc.

Wow, that's dedication Andrew, it looks immaculate underneath. I am assuming you drive it in all weathers so it must be an arduous task to keep it like that! bow
Yes gets driven in most not salty wet winter but all others having the Lift transforms how you maintain and look after your cars very relaxing and therapeutic.

They wouldn't understand... nope, and I'm proud to consider myself a member of the lunatic fringe... I wash both P&J's with the two bucket method, different shampoo applicators for top and bottom halves, and of course the old snow foam smile I completely cover the car with snow foam after the first water only dousing with the hose, then watch my unrecognisable foamy shape intently for about 10 minutes whilst sipping coffee... before moving on to stage 3 smile

Neighbours have asked why I don't just drop them off with the Eastern European lads down the road... I have no answer that fully explains my views on that subject without the likely risk of insulting their intelligence.. my bad though...

Great quote a few days ago, similar subject on one of the other forums..

'There are those that know, and those that don't know.. and there are those that don't know they don't know'
