So do you think that this would go on a TVR OK? :-

It is after all the number of the beast. Shame it's not my initials though.

Nothing really special about it.

You can still get TVR number plates from the DVLA.

I paid £700 for Y44 TVR, but there were some cheaper, some much more expensive. Might be worth a look?

Keep it away from mine, that's the number plate shape of those old rovers. It could curse it so badly the plastic body rusts hehe

Interesting comment that!!! So I doubt you know much if anything about the Rover 75 then!

FYI my daily driver is an 02 Rover 75 CDT with the BMW M47C oil burner unit fitted. The 75 also has BMW E46 suspension complete with Z axle in the rear...................... yep they is a big space for the diff but of course the 75 is FWD using a jatco 5 speed auto box. Brakes are ATI .................... same as BMW as is the anti lock system and the alarm system all this because of course BMW owned Rover at the time of the 75's development.

Oddly enough most of the issues with the 75s are the Germanic bits like broken suspension springs, troublesome ABS sensors and alarm/immobilser. The Bosch ECU is not water proof especially on the diesel the crankshaft pulley dampener can fail. On the petrol V6 the variable inlet tract manifold made by Siemens fails as do the motors that control the flaps ........................................ so much for German quality engineering.

Now we bought this 75 CDT a few months back for the princely sum of £200 as a non runner even though I had told the vendor what the problem was he was not interested and £40 o get her transported home. It was the ECU drowned due to lack of maintenance. We got the ECU repaired by a specialist in Newcastle through the owners club which cost less than £200 I replaced the worn leather steering wheel for £13.82 and bought a new suspension bush we the local garage fitted as I could not get onto the bolts on axle stands but a ramp made it easy. That cost £48.62 I paid £80 for a set of Crowns with good tyres as three on her were border line legal and £80 to get new tow bar electrics supplied and fitted.

She is very good at towing and that is why we wanted a Diesel version. Comfortable and returning an average of 46mpg not bad on juice. But ours does not have the shaped 75 rear plate just a normal straight one.

To us 666 is just a number and nowt more but the beast reference I thought does suit the beasty reputation that the TVR's have. In fact i find a lot in parallel wiht the TVR's as many you mention the name to will right away say that they are unreliable funny thing is that they say the same thing about the MGF's too and of course I have a couple of those still at the moment. I on the other hand have not found the MGF's to be unreliable and I hope and in fact expect that the same will be true for the TVR when I get one. Maintenence and TLC should take car of it.

Don't lower yourself wink

If the geezer had bothered to check your profile he'd have noticed your new to Pistonheads and might have forgiven you for posting anything other than Tvr !!!

In an age of austerity ( for the poor anyway) private plates are a pathetic show of wealth,,, most now cost a few quid so not worth a wk.
Out of date concept for tossers with to much cash.

Tvr's look better with them though so I might get one laugh

Pistonheads for you thumbup

Thankfully not a specialised subject of mine. How ever I do know post mid 70's Rover developed a miserable reputation hence why they are no longer with us.

I have no idea why someone would put a 1984 standard 7 character, "B" registered plate on it either,.. Poor thing. Perhaps 666 is the number of the banger. hehe

One thing that does need to be remembered is that we are all at the mid point of ... mid winter syndrome .. that time of year where at worst the TVR may have been in hibernation for a couple of months, at best used less often, and when used it's less enjoyable due to the st weather .. Spring is approaching but too far away to get excited about .. Grumpiness takes over and some comments need to be read with larges amounts of salt .. biggrin

This thread needs more pictures..

You can't get an 'i' on a number plate, settled on the Y as it fulfilled my requirement for a 5 digit only plate, retains the R reg, my initials are RB (no I haven't put a black bit in the eight to make it look like a B), R8 is kinda like Rover and V8 condensed, it was only £250 from DVLA, and why am I explaining all this confused

Anyway, I like it, so there tongue out
