Test Drive Accident
Discussion
In reply to BONGOTVR, Sue and I would like to meet anyone who meant something to Toby, or for whom Toby meant something, through his work at TMS and passion for TVRs . If you wish to do so, you are welcome to join us for the service and then at Scalford Hall to celebrate his short life with fun and laughter. But please contact TMS to enable me to assess numbers. It might even bring a wry smile to Tobys face too when he looks down and sees all those 'machines' in his old village.
I can imagine him on the long pit wall in the sky, turning to Ayrton (his idol) Senna and saying - "Not bad for a Scalford boy, eh? Now, what were you saying about that accident of yours, be honest now, was it really mechanical or did you.....?". Typical Toby.
PS Be assured, this has been written with more than a few tears in my eyes but I believe my boy would approve, especially as it is on PistonHeads. Call it therapy.

I'm lost for words. Sincere condolences to his family.
He was clearly an inspiration to people. A living example of the good things in people, the good things in life, and a reminder to live our lives with passion and spirit.
Losing people like that is a loss to all of us.
My thoughts are with his family.

I didn't know Toby and the closest connection I could claim is that I bought my Cerbera from James Agger who would have known him pretty well from his time at TMS. I would just like to flag up a suggestion that may find some support. Would it not be a positive gesture for the TVR Pistonheads community, TVRCC, and perhaps some related companies to club together to commission a good quality trophy in silver that could be named after Toby and awarded as a suitable category prize in one of the TVR race meets or series? It would be a way of ensuring that someone who was committed to the marque lives on in memory and would demonstrate that we value the enthusiasts in our field.
Truly saddened by the events.
I followed a link from another car forum, and wanted to post.
If I'm honest, I'm at a loss for words, but each and every post here has shown the true spirit of the community.
Your Ayrton Senna post nearly brought me to tears Alan, not a good thing whilst sat in the office, yet it's the sort of thing I see myself doing when my chance comes.

Not much I can add to everyones comments, truly sad.
Although I never met Toby, it would appear he was a genuinely lovely person, and respected by all who met him.
Alan you should be proud, he sounded like a special guy.
Your own posts have made such an impression on me. God bless you and your Family at this time.
Will be thinking of Toby and Family on 14th.
*sigh* just can't put into words.....

Like many others after reading through all of the posts I felt compelled register and pass on my condolences to Toby's family and friends. I never knew Toby however being a similar age to myself and someone with a similar passion for cars made it hit home all the more. Although I live outside the UK now I am originate from the area so am familiar with the dealership and the village..RIP Toby
My deepest sympathies to you, Alan and Sue, and all your family - it is very brave of you to post on here, but I hope it helps to soften the pain you must be feeling to know that everyone here is as car mad as Toby obviously was, and so we feel the loss of a fellow comrade as keenly as any close-knit community would.
I'm sure that all of us who are driving on "Minihoon" in Europe next week, and therefore cannot attend the service, will raise a collective glass to Toby's memory, and to you and your family's courage. You are always welcome here.

Just wanted to add a quick line to say deepest sympathy. The comments by his dad were truly wonderful and echoed the same love that my grandfarther did for my own farther when he died 12 years ago now. Be brave and remember him he obviously had lots of friends who will miss him too. Kind regards Chris Jennings
