Test Drive Accident
Discussion
We are shocked and saddened by the news and extend our sincere condolences to Toby’s family, friends and TMS TVR colleagues. Toby was a talented, experienced and very popular TVR salesman. He will be greatly missed by the TVR community. We would also like to wish the driver of the car a full and speedy recovery.

Oh my GOD! What to say...
This is so terribly sad, it's taken me ages to read through everyone's posts and the article itself was particularly hard to get through. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about what happened, how their family and friends must be feeling, what they must be going through... As I sit here typing this, I have tears in my eyes and big knot in my stomach, I wish I could do more than just this post.
Our deepest condolences to everyone involved.
Love and best wishes,
Andrea and Paul

I bought at least one car from Toby if not two. He was honest, straight, massively enthusiatic, hard working and genuinley likeable and it's a testament to him that he managed to make the leap from selling scooters to selling TVR's, so successfully and at such a young age. I have had my differences with TMS over the years but my heart goes out to them and Tobys family. He was truly a rarity among the harsh world of car dealers and I genuinely liked him. The world is a poorer place without him.
I am saddened by this thread also. Personally I feel as though every day of driving my TVR is a maturing exercise in my road driving abilities. Courses from Ride Drive do really help and so do other things, 100cc karting etc, roadcraft is something we must all learn and respect to our cars.
It would be wrong to speculate who was at fault but my heart goes out to everyone involved. From my own perspective I have huge respect for all TVR sales guys who effeictely go out with someone they have little knowledge off in a car with supercar performance.

Peter O'Connor, TMS's Managing Director has sent us this statement.
Peter said:
TMS regret to announce that our valued colleague and friend Toby Hodgkinson was killed on Saturday 2 April whilst on demonstrating a TVR Tuscan.
At the time Toby (26) was travelling as passenger in the car.
The driver of the car survived and is currently in hospital.
All of Toby’s family and everyone at TMS are devastated by this tragic loss.
Toby was very well known within the TVR world and was highly regarded by everyone who knew him.
Toby’s funeral will be held at 10.30 AM on 14 April at Scalford parish church in Scalford village where Toby lived near Melton Mowbray.
His family were well aware of his total dedication to everything TVR and in the circumstances have asked that as many TVR friends attend as possible (in their cars) to show respect to their much loved son. Any people planning to attend can contact TMS for directions.
In the circumstance the planned TMS open day scheduled for this coming weekend ( April 10 ) is postponed.
A new date will be announced at an appropriate time in the future.
Was expecting a call from Toby on Saturday re picking up my car he'd registered on 1 April. Now I know why I didn't get it! Truly upset by this news and I'll never be able to drive the new car without thinking of him. My thoughts go out to his family in these dark days.

When I was hunting for Griffith I tested 2 back to back with Toby in the seat next door, he followed up my enquiries and was a total star, even when I decided not to buy the car.
My condolences go out to the family and everyone at TMS, this is a price too high for anyone to take for allowing someone behind the wheel of a TVR.

Like everyone else I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the accident on Saturday that took Toby's life. Such a loss at anytime is an awful thing to have to cope with but I am sure his family will gain strength from knowing how highly he was regarded by so many who had made his acquaintance.
I cannot say I knew Toby very well but through our EMTVRCC meetings had found him to be very pleasant, likeable, easy going and enthusiastic.
It is a sad loss at such a tender age but we have had the pleasure of having known him in some small way.
My sincere condolences to his family and to all at TMS.
